My work is trying to take disciplinary action against me, so I have started recording the meetings, my boss says that’s no longer allowed

In my previous zoom meeting in which my job started to take disciplinary action against me (because I refused to take on more and more complex work until I was compensated for it, because I argued it was out of my classification), I asked my boss for permission to record the meeting through zoom, which he gave to me. In our follow up meeting this morning, I again asked for recording permission, and he told me that his superiors told him that he was not allowed to let me record the meetings. I told him that in that case, I would be recording the meeting on an external device, and started recording on my phone. He told me that it was a violation of policy and that he was not allowed to meet with me if the meeting was being recorded. He promptly ended the meeting and requested that I…

what does “sense of humor” mean

ive seen 2 job listings where “a sense of humor” is required. The first one was for an anti-teacher-union interst group so I didnt finish my application. The second one I have is for an interview in an hour. I just finished reading the glassdoor reviews for the place and they all say that the CEO yells at and embarasses her coworkers, in addition to favoritism. So does “sense of humor” just mean willing to tolerate abuse and denigration? I don't see it often enough but I just wanna know if I should add this to my list of red flags

A proposal of an alliance between us and /r/hydrohomies

So I drink a LOT of water on the job. A LOT. I also pee at work. A lot. Drinking as much water as I do on the job gives me an excuse to stop working so that I can fill up my water bottle, and to pee 8 gajillion times a day. I am simultaneously giving my body what it needs, and stickin' it to upper management. So please, drink your water, slack off where you can while racing like a pisshorse, and welcome our /r/hydrohomies brothers and sisters!

Egregious IMHO. Thats turning your time into money at the cost of both time and extra money. Ride a bike and it’s free.

What remote work can be done without a degree or experience?

I have chronic pain from a car accident I had several years ago. It was at my job and I was a passenger when the belts on the van broke and caused the vehicle to lose control and roll over and over on the interstate. I have had severe whiplash symptoms and stiffness in my upper body since and I'm currently working another job where it's high impact and I get tired of having to wake up early to commute every day. I look online for remote jobs, but can't seem to find anything unless it's for customer service, call centers, or I'd need experience and a specific degree. Are there any specific types of jobs I could be searching for that don't always require you to be a perfect candidate? Even if I have to commute, I just want a quiet low impact job with little push and pull.…

Mourning the loss of the only job I’ve ever loved

I know, it's an off topic title for here, but hear me out. It will all make the turn to the antiwork tone we know and love. Five-ish years ago, I had the joy of being a part of a massive layoff for the second time in my life. The message had been sent at 3am, 12 hours before my shift the next day. I was desperate for work and a friend hooked me up with a place he had landed. It was to be my very first office job. I was nervous, but got it. It took a bit of time for things to settle, but after a year, I had essentially created my own position in a company that was focused entirely on connecting people to various social services they needed. The company was fairly new, so everyone was in a learn as we go mindset, but also…

I was fired today after a month of employment

Hi, I just finished my bachelor’s and started working on an entry level job at the private medical office. It was new to me as I’m an international and never worked in US before, only volunteered. I was happy at first, but then realized that office was getting way busier and some people left as well and nobody was willing to explain what to do so I had to basically be “annoying “ and ask or google. I was fired because “someone complained” that I was on my phone and that additionally I’m not taking advises and not willing to learn. As much as I understand that patient is first, I felt slapped in the face as I knew it wasn’t true but nobody even asked my side of story. Nobody in the office who saw me working AND taking work for other people defended me. Out of all this…
