Eat the oligarchs
I'm a casual employee at McDonald's, In Australia this means I get a 25% pay increase, but also am not guaranteed any kind of stable hours or any hours at all, and don't get sick leave or other benefits like that. So the days and times I work are pretty random. As such, my pay per hour is pretty decent. But I'm not working nearly enough hours to be able to move out. Where they currently have me working 5 days a week but with half shifts that are around 4 hours long. My dad is very generous with how much board I need to pay him to live at his place, which I'm extremely lucky and thankful for. Due to getting these hours I tried to reduce my availability ~3 weeks in advance (this advanced notice was required by the system they have to request a change to availability)…
Clocking out and walking out
So tonight at work another coworker and I were scheduled to leave at 10. We got our rolls closed and because our labor % was high our manager was rushing to get us off the clock. I clocked out and grabbed my stuff, but my coworker asked me to do something. I said no, I’m off the clock, and she said she was too, but was still working. I left and she stayed. In our state, it’s illegal for non salaried workers to work off the clock, so I was within my right to leave, but I’m worried about any repercussions (reduced hours, reduced pay, etc.) this could have. How should I prepare in case the manager or gm confronts me? I figured asking here was the best idea since this subreddit is very pro worker rights
