Basically they want me to pay a fee to sign up with them as a volunteer. I find it really weird that I have to pay so I can give them my free labour. Is that normal?? In the UK btw. Edit: For more context, this is a volunteer position in a field I've been wanting to get into for a while and I need something for CV material. They didnt mention the fee on the website or during the application process. Only at the end of a 2 hour induction did they give it a passing comment and I was baffled.

Working in the US…
AntiWork. This subreddit and our ideas go against one of the most treasured systems of capitalism and colonialism. Capitalism tries very hard to tell us anti-work is an absurd, stupid, ridiculous, nonsensical, impossible and otherwise bad idea. Since capitalism is the dominant system in much of the world, it dominates most media and education as well. This subreddit and its ideas go against what many of us have been taught. Please, try to keep an open mind. Another way is possible. There is more to the world than what you have been taught. Thank you!

I quit my job and they gave me a link to the Work Number from Equifax and said I could use this for any future employment verification needed. I selected the option that says Electronic Data Report request form and reason for request “to include in a job application” just to see what is shown. I was expecting it to just confirm my start and end date and that I had in fact worked for the company. I reviewed my report and it shows every job that I’ve ever had, hours worked each pay period, and every paycheck amount. I just don’t like the idea of sharing my info to that extent. Does anybody know if future employers will have access to all of this information if they have my social security number? And is there a way to just allow them to see my start and end dates without…
How do I go about this? I’ve been passed up on merit increases for years and my company failed to correct the issue. I know for a fact that I’ve displayed and maintained excellent work ethic, attendance + professionalism throughout my tenure: My performance reviews have always been stellar and yet and had never received a merit increase to reflect that. The only pay adjustments I had received were cost of living adjustments. Aside from that, no merit increases and no equity while plenty of other underserving people got hooked up. I feel like my company exploited me for years until somebody above me realized, felt bad & finally gave me an opportunity. Fast forward to now, I was enrolled & (just completed) in an accelerated training program for a different department looking to ramp up headcount for their team. This training was offered out of necessity as they are…
If your gut is telling you that you need to quit a job, do it. Take it as a survival instinct, the universe, or God. But just do it. Find another source of income or pay. You will not regret leaving a job you hate.
Taco Bell is pure hell to work for
I (23f) worked at Taco Bell as a shift supervisor earning 10.25 an hour . I live in NYC which doesn’t cover shit . I work 35 hours a week while a single mother of 2 toddlers. Recently my manager asked me to start working 55 hours a week . I told him that wasn’t possible with my kids He said and I quote “ Maybe you should’ve kept your legs closed “ I told him I quit and good luck finding someone to do my job for the pay they offered in our area . Now I’m currently unemployed , doing doordash to pay my bills and trying to find my next step . But my next step might be to move out of the city
