Nurses throughout the country are relieved that Judge Jennifer L. Smith rejected the vindictive demands of the state prosecution for up to eight years in prison. At the same time, the prosecution and conviction of Vaught sets a dangerous precedent for the criminalization of medical errors. Vaught faces three years of intrusive probation, has not had her nursing license restored, and has suffered enormous personal and emotional consequences from the unjust prosecution, while still bearing the weight of the error itself and the life that was lost.”

Pretty much just what the title states. Can't afford to pay your employees a living wage? You're bad at business. Panic when an employee quits w/out notice? You suck at managing. Running skeleton crews because staffing appropriately eliminates your margin? You deserve to go belly-up. Hit 'em up. Let 'em know. Next time you walk past one of those “No one wants to work anymore” signs, I encourage you to make contact with an owner/manager and grill them about how they do business. If they suck at it, tell them. Have an interview that's throwing up red flags? Don't keep it to yourself. Use your time productively and point those flags out explicitly! Aware of a workplace that discourages salary discussions? Start loud salary discussions! You're actively being conditioned to take more and more abuse quietly in the name of a “good work ethic”. Not me. Not anymore. Today, I…
My mom mentioned that she finally received a raise but she was still pissed off. I asked her why and she explained. The employees were all set to get like a 3% raise (too small but that’s not what this is about). She asked for more because of inflation and her boss named another employee and said if you take the raise you want then this other employee will lose their 3% raise. Is this illegal or just really shitty?
Little sister getting scammed at work.
Where do you remote someone (company owner) in the state of Wisconsin for wage disputes? I’m pretty certain the business my little sister is working for is scamming all their young female employees….and not paying the properly for their hours worked.
Should I Summarize the Shit Show?
I've worked for the same corporation for 17 years. I like my job, and they pay me well, but not enough to tolerate the ignorance, incompetence, defensiveness, retaliation, and gaslighting (collectively narcissism) from my manager of the past 6 years. Plus they're making us return to the office. I'm leaving for a much better job (Yay, me!), but it's so bad that I'm prepared to leave with no prospects. However, my manager has a new-ish boss who is refreshingly competent and insightful and will want deeper understanding of my reasons for leaving. This skip-level boss has been here just long enough to witness some of the broader, systemic toxicity and is already working on improvements. So basically, he's too new to have lost hope yet. My question is this: What's the best way to summarize the shit show for him in the hopes of improving conditions for the humans left…
Being expected to work while on PTO
The past two times I took PTO, I was required to work at least one hour every day I took PTO (emergency or coworker clueless) Is this normal? Salaried job. Got 5% raise this year, which I voiced to my manager I was unhappy with. Grounds for raise, if so how? Or should I just leave?
Currently I am not able to give much time in learning web development. But I fear to resign without having a new job offer at hand. My family can live without my salary. But there will be pressure if I dont get a job in 2-3 months after I quit. I dont like my current job, employer. I want to leave this place as early as possible. Have you been in this similar situation? What actions did you take? What can I do?
