Right, can we all work together and organise into countries/sectors, so we can collectively strike as a large number simultaneously? I only see us winning against the oligarchs by banding together, it's all well and good to hate work (I know I certainly do) but if all we do is complain we won't see any change, we need to force companies to change. Ofc this may be a pipe dream but I believe we can win!

TLDR : Got screwed out of a major raise so I have to work less. Im done being angry when I wake up! So I just decided to balance out the Universe. Some back story: I have worked with same small team at huge company 5+ years when we get a new manager and a couple people get a free pass to a raise making 2$ more than me when I should have gotten one as well but before said manager helped me with a free pass to a raise he quit. Now its over a year later and 2 co workers still making more than me due to both of them getting a raise they didn't earn. The new manager said that they can't do anything about it because that manager gave them a free pass to a raise. So…I watch these 2 higher paid employees dick off and…
Carvana and the State of Capitalism
Senior management had a 1.5 hour conference call yesterday to talk about the future and state of business. A question was asked about what leadership was doing to help promote people that want to get to the next level. Paraphrasing response was: I moved 10 times in 10 years for the company. What are you willing to sacrifice to get promoted? He said the company has a great mentorship program and anybody that wants to promote should get with him. AFAIK, only one (1!) of my 24 coworkers at my level have any kind of path with him. I’ve been here 3 years and it’s the first time I’ve heard of this. Companies like this will continue to fall behind on attracting talent if they do not adapt and keep ruling with the ideologies of outdated mindsets.
where to go after quitting
I want to quit the job I’m at due to mental health issues and just that i literally work with hardcore drug users. I just don’t know what to do if I quit, I hate this idea of being miserable forever and just dying. My family is stuck on the idea that’s how life is and should be because it’s been that way forever. What do I do? Where do I go? This working under a terrible manager and doing his beck and call just to make ends meet, this ain’t it. I’m just so confused.
I work at a factory 7 days a week 8 hours with no days off. You are given a point system to call off but they heavily discourage from using them. This period of no days off is only 90 days but I dont think I can make it. I know it’s a lot of money but a part of me doesn’t care. I just miss my family
The U.S. has 115,000 janitors, 83,000 bartenders and 323,000 restaurant servers with bachelor’s degrees. https://fact-central.com/2021/12/29/the-u-s-has-115000-janitors-83000-bartenders-and-323000-restaurant-servers-with-bachelors-degrees/
So, I work for KFC in a major city centre in England. The company has a policy that you’re not allowed a break unless you’re rota’d in for at least 6 and a half hours. This rota doesn’t include cleaning time, which can last multiple hours on particularly gruesome shifts. But in the UK, every worker who works 6 hours + is entitled to a 20 minute break by law, and this 6 hours includes overtime hours such as cleaning and what not. We also usually close at 10/11pm, meaning some shifts require us to be in the shop until as late as 2am. Next week, I’m working a night shift on one day, and a morning shift the day after. This gives me only 8 hours of rest even excluding clean up time. UK law requires at least 13 hours between shifts, something which I’ve made my boss aware…
