Steps for a more democratic economy
only 25 years
22 year residential electrician
I’m 39. Dropped out of high school at 17, got my GED & went straight into the field. Started at $7 an hour doing all the grunt work. 22 years later and I finally saw $25 an hour lol. It’s not worth your time. Trust me. Go out on your own. I wish I would have had that mindset from the start. I got comfortable being an employee. Should have had my LLE set up years & years ago. Working on that now. I charge $50 an hour for side work (which is hit or miss at the moment) $50 sounds expensive, but you aren’t necessarily paying for my hours. You’re paying me for the 20+ years it took me to learn how to do it in an hour. You can jump from company to company chasing a dollar here and there. You can stick it out with one company,…

“Here is your ‘promotion’.”
My buddy has worked at this company for 10+ years. They offered him a promotion today. By promotion I mean the classic “a lot more responsibility, same amount of pay.” He hasn't been given a raise the last three years either. He told them he would need one to take the position. They said no, and pretty much tried to force his hand into taking it by telling him they would likely be dissolving his position soon. Always a reminder, they don't care about you. Put in the legwork? Be a loyal employee? Nah. Doesn't matter to them. You're just fodder.
