And fuck fairweather bosses that “support” you behind closed doors but refuse to advocate for you when it matters. I've just made up my mind to quit this hell. I don't have another gig lined up and that's terrifying. But my mind has stopped racing for the first time in months since I've made the decision to leave. No one should have to live like that. I deserve better and I will find it.

Excuse me? How is this supposed to work?
There is a few articles on this https://www.theguardian.com/world/2022/may/11/canada-cases-right-to-die-laws But in short, because people can't afford housing that meets their medical needs, or just good housing at all. So some are picking assisted suicide. Personally, as someone highly in favor of assisted suicide and wish gov around the world would expand it to allow for any adult for any reason to do it, even if they have to jump through some hoops so they have time to think it over. Like I believe all adults have the right to die, and I think the gov should recognize this legally. A major thing said by supporters is gov and media should stop looking at the action and look at the why. Like a cop locking up someone because they want to off themselves, shoving a hotline in front of someone, calling those who taken their own lives cowards, etc is flat…
I have a comfortable white collar job, good boss, great benefits, solid pay, hybrid remote. By any “normal” scale, I'm happy and shouldn't be on the job market. But life has taught me that companies aren't loyal to workers. They are loyal to profits. Sometimes those goals align to the workers favor, but could just as quickly cut the worker at the throat. So I'm never loyal, I'm always browsing open positions and interviewing, always gauging the market value for my skillset. Call me ruthlessly capitalistic, but why would I ever be loyal to a company when I can get paid more elsewhere? I do what the companies do: maximize my profit.
Anyone else work IT that feels this?
I don’t know what it is about insurance customers (not health, btw but property/casualty) but they are some of the WORST people I have had the misfortune of dealing with and I have been in customer service jobs for years. Retail from when I was 17 until I was 33 when I got into insurance. I wanted weekends, nights, and holidays off. Well just to give you some examples, just the other day I got called “unprofessional” by a lady who I forgot to call back right away. Nevermind we had one person out because her sister was having open heart surgery and it was just two of us in here with the phones going non-stop for days. Nevermind I was overwhelmed. Nevermind I was stressed. Nevermind I was beating my brains out trying to make absolute sure all my i’s were dotted and t’s were crossed and missed one…
Seriously?? Is this what people have to deal with? 3 call ins a year is what I was told was allowed at a job I interviewed for. Like what the fuck? You're asking me to make fast food Ms. interview lady. You're offering $13 an hour, can't guarantee 40 hours a week unless I come in and “prove myself” for 90 days, I can only call in 3 times a goddamn year and I won't even be allowed to keep my beard? Fuck all that, I'm gonna keep looking. I want a new job, but I'm not desperate.
https://finance.yahoo.com/news/why-the-fed-wants-corporate-america-to-have-a-hiring-freeze-morning-brief-100055174.html “After the recent job numbers were released last week, Bank of America analysts said in a note they are essentially “rooting against the home team” and hope the numbers stop being so strong. As higher wages contribute to inflation, the Federal Reserve appears to agree.” Median Income Now: 35,839 Medium Income 2000: 31,793 Median New Home Now: 403,029 Median New Home 2000: 163,906 You look at these numbers and tell me that despite our generation being the most productive and educated that we should not have the ability to negotiate for a better salary. If this isn't evidence that our government fucking hates its citizens and actively conspires with corporate America to keep you poor I don't know what is.
