I've become manager at this place where I worked for years before and very much love. Upper management selected me themselves because they know I am reliable and love the place. Many managers have quit because of the poor work/life balance or just how disorganized it is. I thought I'd try it and see if I can make it work, and it has been a little over a month. So far, so very good. There's just this one thing that really bugs me: My bosses, who have frequently made mistakes that I have to pick up after, are extremely impatient with me and will lash out at every small mistake I make if things are not absolutely perfect. They'll make considerable mistakes like giving me the improper time for the staff to arrive, or missing important info like a service included in a contract agreement made months ago I never…

Everyone on the internet has read the phase “Never accept a counter on your way out the door!” It’s extremely common and generally pretty good advice. But I’m wondering why we don’t encourage more people to say “yes!… but, I’ll need a severance package”. If you like your current job but get an offer somewhere else with a big raise you’d be willing to accept, why not let your current company counter. Just make sure you have protection if you do. If you are in a position where you’re able to get a good offer somewhere else, and use it to convince your company to give you a raise + severance, you’ll probably be able to get another in the time allotted by the severance if they do turn around and fire you. Food for thought for anyone considering using offers to negotiate.
Some of y'all came correct most didn't. It's a good company trying to do all right including the community that feeds us. Well today that boss gave everyone in the company a $3 a hr raise. We were already above local prevailing union wages. Not all companies are as some of y'all say. Y'all seem to ignore there's a difference between wall street and main street economics.
I have a big year long project due today for university. I have been working tirelessly this term skipping my workouts, not eating/quickly scarfing down meals, barely sleeping all week, having no life, trying to progress faster on the deliverable. I kept thinking if I just work harder I can meet the deadline but it's literally impossible when im juggling 4 other classes, working 25-30 hrs a week, and job applying too, all while some of my teammates aren't even pulling their weight. So yea fuck it that shit isn't getting turned in today. I'm gonna do my workout and chill then continue work on it. I told my supervisor it will be in Monday or Tuesday, but I should be able to do it by saturday/sunday.
Idk if I’m being dramatic but..
Idk if I’m being dramatic because I lowkey hate my job but yesterday I was about to go on break, like I audibly said to my coworkers “I’m going on break” and then next thing you know my manager comes out of her room and says that I can’t because she’s going first?? And then after that she offered that my other coworker goes after her and I have to wait for both of them?? In the end I didn’t even GET a break because my shift ended. I don’t know if I was just hangry and being dramatic or if this is as ridiculous as it seems to me? Like wtf
