Tipping the pool service guy
I called a pool service company yesterday to clear a pipe clog in my pool. The process literally took about 5 minutes to blow out the clog. The guy looked to be in early twenties and said he was the owner. The repair fee was $125 and I was glad to pay it. But I was paying with a credit card when prompted with a tip option screen. Before I came on this sub, I might’ve had a negative reaction to this situation. But it looks like reading the comments here has reconditioned my mind to be more empathetic and supportive to young people. I was glad to tip him the extra $20 for his quick work. I know all you young people could use the whatever help you can get. I notice I have been tipping far more even in situations I would not have in traditionally non tipping…
This morning our lead (who we all really like) gave us the shot across the bow that upper/senior management is most likely about to end any and all telework. After receiving this announcement I politely said that he should inform his boss that right now all employees are happy and that I haven't job hunted in years (since I've worked here). And left it at that. It's worth noting that we did not get a telework schedule until over 18 months into the pandemic. We were on site and getting exposed left and right until the end of Delta and the start of Omicron. This caused several instances where quarantine made all staff off the board for days and weeks at a time. Our telework schedule was hybrid. Some guys would work Monday and Friday and some T-Thurs. I was on the T-Thurs group which meant I have soft long…
Listen to this b*llsh*t
Ok so I’ve been with the facility I’m at for about 9 months now. I’ve noticed most of the office staff are friends with each other/ follow each other on social media. My social media is not under my real name so clients/professional world can’t find me. The manager here keeps asking about social media. She will bring it up “casually” which she definitely plans how she brings it up just to strike the conversation with me yet again! She’ll say share this to your Facebook etc etc etc. I always reply I don’t have social media. Well today it happened AGAIN! I said I don’t have Facebook. She replied “what about instagram” I said nope no social media. You could tell she didn’t like my response. So she said “Wow you’re real stale aren’t you!?” I just replied I don’t feel the need to put my life on social…
I feel like my company is going under and I've been looking for newer jobs. I currently live in Las Vegas and the pay rate here sucks. My dad will often suggest me jobs to apply for but they don't pay more than $10 hr. I see stories on this sub of people quitting making higher pay increases each time from 20,000 to 40,000 to 80,000 dollars every 2 years or so. How are people job hopping to more higher paying jobs?
Affordable housing, finally! /s
“Just work hard and you’ll be rewarded”
I've officially hit a breaking point. I'm at the point where my ability to feed my family and live in a home is being threatened and I've done everything the system told me I should do. I've been working at my current job for 10 years, I worked my ass off to get a lower level management position that I've been working for 3 years. During my tenure I worked full time, had a family, went to school full time etc etc, not being one bit “lazy”. All efforts have been excellent, all my results and achievements have been excellent, but not for me. I would be easily identified as one of the companies best employees, I've improved this company and saved them millions of dollars. Since the pandemic business boomed. We increased monthly revenue by $4 million each month while costs only went up $700,000. The PROFIT they gain…
