So I've been wondering this for some time. What is the point of giving 2 week notice? Most in no way will return even if the company said they will pay you more (which never happens anyways, and you will be treated like shit for trying to do better) Many bosses have a fit when you quit Nearly all companies around the world can fire you without notice and they can make up reasons. A company isn't your family. It's a trade. You trade your time, skill, effort for their money and other benefits they might offer. The people who say well I don't want to offload things on others. Do you invite your co-workers to your home or do you go to their home? Do you hang out afterhours? Will the “friendly” relationship keep up after you are gone? If so, then I understand. But since 99.999% will say…

I was just fired from a job I’ve been working at for a little over a year. In that timespan I have not missed a single day of work, nor have I been late. I showed up every day and did my job to the fullest extent and didn’t even so much as complain. Last weekend I had a family emergency and had to call off on Saturday. I am off Sunday, so I come in Monday morning only to find I’m not on the schedule for the week. They fired me for calling off on Saturday. I’m not even mad, just baffled. This same place is constantly understaffed and it wasn’t uncommon for us to work 70+ hours a week. So I’ve come to find in my experience there is no such thing as “putting in time”. Your manager will stab you in the back over the slightest inconvenience.
Mass layoffs at a startup.
Just got laid off yesterday along with at least 15 other people. It was a tale as old as time. They had high up executives who were making idiotic choices and blaming people who had the least power. The ship went down and none of them got fired. I imagine none of them got paid less. But the people doing the actual work and not just speaking in meeting got cut. The company is so stupid they cut everyone in product development so the product will not be improved and will die in the next year. Fuck corporations. They see workers as nothing more than numbers on a spreadsheet. They try and get as much out of us for as little as possible and we try to give them as little effort as possible.
are ya sure bud?
Just Kidding!
I was recently commiserating with my wonderful, intelligent, and insightful Boomer parents about the awful partisan filth that's recently been spewing from the SCOTUS. It's amazing how our country caters to the for-profit whims of the corporate elite. To make matters worse, most of my parent's Boomer friends are Trumpers and are cheering as our nation-sized dumpster fire rages and takes down the rest of the world with it. My sweet, compassionate mother's proposed resolution was that the Boomers all needed to hurry up and die so their kids could rush in and fix everything. That's it. Most of her generation has already made up their mind and nothing's going to change it, so they just needed to die off. I didn't disagree with her, but I'm worried that it will already be too late by the time that happens. Also, I want my parents to see us making the…
