Looking for Negotiation Advice
Hi all, TYIA for any advice. I’ve never been in a position to ask for a raise, let alone one like this. I am woefully underpaid. 6 months ago I asked for a raise and was given a measly sum. When I inquired why, the answer was new ownership, not enough time/numbers. I said okay, when could we sit back down. I was told 1 year. Well here we are. I love my boss/new owner, love the company, the direction, and most of my coworkers. But the pay. So here we are at a year. Based on my research both within the company and comps I should be getting paid 1.5x ish more. Total comp is currently $50k should be between $75-100k. Obviously this is a hell of an ask. But I’m at a point where it either happens or I leave. Would appreciate any advice on how to “soften”…
I’m exhausted. I finally got to a second round interview with a company that I thought suited me perfectly only for them to ghost me. I’m fucking tired. There are no shortage of jobs, I have a decade of experience in various fields. I’m at my wits end. The insane amount of impersonal rejection emails and having to submit the same information over and over is killing me. I really hate this planet. I hate when people say “just find something until you find the right thing” yeah I fucking HAVE been looking for placeholders as well. No luck there either. I’m depressed. This is just a rant.
So, this happened to my coworker within the last week. We work in EMS which is a 24/7 job. We have about 13 people at our center, with a mandatory 2 hours of overtime every week, as well as nonmandatory OT to cover calls offs, staffing for busy weekends, sickness, etc. We recently all worked a 50 hour work week due to training. No biggie. A few weeks ago, head supervisor puts out an email that all time off requests will be denied to combat unnecessary OT. We are over our fiscal budget this year, so this measure will be in effective until the start of the new fiscal year (July 1st). My coworker had put in a time off request back in April for a day in June. Once this email came out, they checked their request and realized they put the wrong date. Our system does not allow…
forced to share earpiece
I’ve been searching OSHA but can’t find exactly what i need. assistance is appreciated. retail job, we are required to wear walkie talkies with earpieces. there are a limited amount. all the equipment is shared. walkies are numbered and we check them out and in. a sanitizing wipe is required after use, but the earpieces are porous and it is clear the wipe only gets the surface. another store had a contagious ear infection. i tried to refuse to wear it. i will try again. i can’t believe this type of thing is still going on after covid. thanks for reading and thanks for any resources.
