Y’all, is Lowe’s a decent employer for a summer job?

Thought I'd post here since y'all would be the experts in knowing which companies to avoid working for. The listing (Back-end Clerk) has some pretty low requirements that I can meet as a noob to the workforce but doesn't list pay, which I've learned is a bit of a red flag. Does anybody have some experiences to share about working for Lowe's to help me decide to take it or not?

I might get downvoted into oblivion for this…but WFH SUCKED.

I want to preface this by saying that work from home has been an AMAZING thing for a lot of people. If you can work from home and function, great. That is not the case for all people. But for me, during the pandemic, it was some of the darkest and loneliest times in my entire life. I live alone, and when we were working from home off and on for months at a time during the height of the pandemic, I literally almost killed myself. My days ran together, there was no human contact other than over email and the occasional zoom call. Mostly I was left to my own devices to get my job done. I have a mostly autonomous roll at the office so meetings are not really a thing I need to participate in that often. I started drinking and smoking weed to get through the…

I just found out I’m going to be making more than my co worker, who’s been there for almost two years, in just a few months.

Mostly the title. But I’m mad on his behalf. I really want to do something but he talked to our boss’s boss and was told there was nothing that could be done. Should this be taken to hr or is this just another fucked up thing that we are both going to have to live with because American capitalism

Fedex offered me $17 an hour as a package handler(on indeed) but my paycheck only says $15.5…

I'm texted my manager tonight but am also planning on talking to him tomorrow about it. Since it was on indeed im Shit outta luck, but I'm gonna basically tell him that if we can't get it corrected, then when the other place I applied to gives me hours I'm quitting no 2 weeks. Is this acceptable, or am I over reacting? I've already been in the process of looking for another job since the pay even at $17 an hour is not worth it for the literal back breaking labor of package handling. I could work in a kitchen near me doubles for $14.5 an hour and still not be as tired. I'm a pretty athletic build 6'4 as well so I can't even begin to image what the others are going through. I have not yet told them I am searching for another job and likely won't want…

Is getting a entry level remote job impossible?

I have applied to hundreds of remote jobs and so far I have not gotten one interview. I even applied to jobs that have very low qualifications to enter and only require things like a HS diploma, fast typing speed, quiet workspace, good wifi, and such. But even these jobs with the bare minimum will reject me. I just want to work from home because I am tired of commuting, waking up early, the micromanaging, high gas prices, etc.

Soul Crushing Corporate Environment

I can't really give too many details aside from the fact that I work in a call center environment. It's become a toxic, soul crushing environment. I've been applying for other jobs with no luck. At this point, I need to be an entrepreneur. What other reasonable course is there? I don't really expect anyone to have any answers. Just came here to vent to those who cam relate.

Local Fast Food Workers

Was talking to my mother today and she had just come back from the local subway. Apparently there were 2 girls behind the counter saying they get an extra dollar per hour working there vs working at McDonald's down the street. $15 vs $16. She seemed upset that they changed jobs to get the extra money. I asked my mother what the issue was, she proceeded to tell me they shouldn't be making $16. I told her that they got a better offer, shouldn't they take it? Isn't that the smart thing to do? She said yes, but what about McDonald's? I told her flat out they'll have to make a better offer next time. She looked at me like I had lost my mind. Now she's 55, was a union nurse, and has never thought about her benefits and pay before. Wow.

When you realize how bad it actually was years later

Years ago I secured a job working at a boardgame cafe. I was excited to work there as I had barista experience and liked nerdy things. Quickly though I found the management to be questionable as they didn't really check in with staff and also for some reason didn't advertise at all that they were opening, hoping that their reputation would be enough. Obviously this didn't work out and they fired half of their small staff a week after opening, myself included. Now I was already a little annoyed at the manager as they hadn't paid me properly. For one where I live, you must pay a minimum of 3 hours even if you worked less. Which they did not. Also they refused to give us our tips until we met their “standards” in properly making drinks. To top this off, because we served alcohol they were allowed to pay…

A wedding planner posted this on their instagram story. I’m pretty sure it is an unpaid gig. How can you demand unpaid interns to work long hours, drive w/ these gas prices, & not complain. Also the 2nd paragraph is clearly calling out previous interns smh

Screwed After Having a Baby

I've been with this company for a decade. My husband is a department head for a different department and has worked here about the same amount of time. I've worked my way up to middle management and have been complimented on my work often (even won an award on a state level for our field). Leaving this vague for anonymity purposes. This past year my husband and I decided it was time to have a baby. My pregnancy was not easy. I was very sick and ended up working partially from home for the last stretch. I was supposed to be fully wfh per doctor's orders but we were severely short staffed and I was also doing the work of 2 people so felt like I had to go in a couple days a week. Well, turns out I had preeclampsia and ended up having an emergency c-section at 34…
