broke and in debt
vent: just started another job. part time… like 20 hours a week. getting paid 13.50 an hour at a barista gig. i guess there’s tips but I don’t get them till I’m done training. I’m 3k in debt not counting me having to pay off my car. i have abt 1100 each month in expenses. i live with my partner but he’s currently unemployed. I’m really unsure of what to do. I can’t pick up a second job. i’m so stressed and tired. I have barely any experience outside of customer service. if anybody has advice I’m open to it but I’m lost and just need somewhere to vent where I won’t be told “that’s just work!” thanks :/
I’m considering leaving a union.
I've been working in a labor union for a distribution center for 3.5 years. It's all seniority based, but the turnover rate is 267% (literally according to our last quarterly meeting) I work 5-6 days a week, 8-12 hours for 5 of those days and 8 hours on my day off if I get forced in. I work every weekend and will continue to for a good 8-9 years based on what I've seen from the seniors, especially with the turnover keeping me stagnant in the bottom 30%. I have excellent health insurance but my partner is also in a union with even better health insurance. I've tried very hard to be pro union and I still am but I don't believe this union is for me. I've looked for similar job types and I've found some, one of which called to set up an interview. It's closer, a small…
When i hear more and more company in america and europe pushing WFH or Work from anywhere, isn't that mean company will prefer cheaper workforce in developing country? Like in my SEA country where most of the people satisfied with annual salary of 12K to 14K$. but it's impossible to live with that money in developed country. we are also cheaper in regulation and healthcare benefit, if the contract is per project company wouldn't need to pay healthcare and insurance. So what prevent company in america just abandon most of their workforce america and choose cheap workforce in asia?
I'd be curious what everyone's oppinion is on this. I work 9-5 and am required to take an unpaid lunch, we get a choice tho. A local restaurant is randomly chosen and we can get one item from there “free”, everyone eats outside quickly and once they're done we have to go back to work unpaid for the rest of the hour (usually about 15 minutes lunch break) Or we can have the entire unpaid lunch hour to ourselves if we get our own lunch. (1 hour) What's your thoughts on this? I get paid $24/hr and the lunch budget is about $15 per person (max). It almost seems worth it to just go out on my own during lunch so I can spend the full hour to myself since I'm basically being paid less. Any ideas on how to benefit out of this? I can't simply order more food…

How much am I worth now?
TLDR: how to calculate worth of 10+ years experience during wage increase going on in the US, when looking for a new job. I see so many jobs starting at $15 an hour now. Nice to see minimum wage going up, (slowly). A little resume background: Back in 2014 I had about 6 years experience in my industry (administrative work) and earned $15/hr. I moved states, got a “good” job where I live now,(made $18.50/hr in 2021) but due to covid, I left my job. Question: Now I'm looking to get into executive admin, Sr. Admin jobs. I have 10+ years experience. With minimum wage going up… HOW MUCH AM I WORTH NOW? Going off of Glassdoor doesn't seem correct because it relies on the past, when everyone was making pennies. I don't want to look back at my past earnings and continue to base my worth on those pennies.…
