I want to contribute and help others and be part of society. I really do. My husband and I are foster parents, we’ve had up to 9 kids at once, right now we have 5. Our oldest is on the list to get a heart/kidney transplant any day now, and when that happens my husband will have to go with them to the hospital two hours away and stay there for several months. I’ll be home with the other kids, ages 15, 12, 2, and 10 months. The two littles don’t sleep well, so neither do I. My daily home life is completely exhausting, but very happy and rewarding. I could hold down the fort on my own for a couple months, even if it will be very hard. But in a month I have to go back to work, and that just seems like too much. I’m scared, and…

We should all just
Go into healthcare and then unionize right? I mean there's a massive shortage of nurses, and many of us stay at crappy jobs because we can't lose our insurance because we need 9t for ourselves or family. But many times our insurance won't cover things. Let's take over the healthcare industry.

Almost every municipality has meetings that are legally required to be public and take public comment – attend as many of them as you can. Run or apply (some are appointed) yourself, or canvass and call for someone who is running. One person can absolutely make a difference. And if you can't do that – vote! In EVERY election! Most people could be voting in 4 or more elections per year, but you have to do work to find out when the elections are because they won't be publicized. And that's not even including special elections! Because few people know about these elections, voter turnout is tiny and literally 1 vote can make all the difference. Your first step should be to find out every municipality and special district you are in, then make a list of when those elections are and when the public meetings are. One loud person…
My boss explicitly told me that they value me and recognize that the pay I receive doesn't reflect that. I honestly feel like maybe I should just work at Starbucks… I would love to stay at my job but I also love not starving, and my rent is about to go up by $600 since I am moving 🙁 Not to mention $500 in application fees/subletting fees/deposits!
Boomer coworker sleeps on the job
So this maybe a bit of a funny story for some. I recently started a retail job which also has local delivery drivers. One of the new driver brought in just after me quickly became friends with another driver in his age group. They love to talk loudly about how kids these days (gen z makes up most of the retail side) want to get paid to do nothing. But it gets better. Today while doing a planogram reset I found this coworker sleeping in the back, getting paid to do nothing. Honestly I don't have a problem with the sleeping. As a driver he has periods where he has nothing to do. I find the hypocrisy fun. Also they say COVID is fake because it killed people.
Who has power?
