I'm sorry if this is long, but I have a tendency of letting things bubble up under the surface for a while before I explode, and I need somewhere to feel enraged properly. With the help of starting therapy earlier this year and the last few straws in the office this month, I am finally ready to move on. I'm so burnt out that I don't want to give them a 30-day resignation, I don't even want to give them 2 weeks. But I know the extra work will fall on my fellow under-paid, people-pleasing coworkers and eventually may even get one fired (once they replace me bc they'll need her for now, lol). These people have families and I just feel stuck because I want good karma and I know what I'm about to do to them. I am a soon-to-be 26 yo female in the US taking home…

I just quit my “Prestigious” job
I have a masters degree and because I’m an immigrant I had to work in “easier” jobs in my field for a few years. I managed to climb up to a prestigious job about 7 months ago. The job was pretty cushy in terms of hours and workload, not gonna lie. But I was treated like crap by my boss. I was gaslighted about every mistake I ever made where my boss would act like little errors were career-ending failures. They basically demanded a standard of perfection that was impossible. Almost all of my coworkers have broken down at some point in their first year. In my first 6 months I saw 4 people leave on mental health disability leave. My hair started falling out from stress and I was like…why am I doing this? So I can brag at parties? So I can “make my parents proud”? What is…

My background is in construction bookkeeping and estimating, and the owner, let’s call him Bob, was very interested in me joining his team. He said to call him back the last week of July and we’d set up a day to start and my rate and whatnot. It’s worth mentioning here that one of this guy’s subs, let’s call him John, was also a regular sub of my old boss, and he recommended me to him and vouched for my abilities. So today I called Bob. He gets on the phone, and he sounds like he’s down in the dumps. He tells me that John told my old boss about me working for the new company and my old boss called the company and told Bob that I was terrible at my job, my resume was…
my 1 day off request was denied
I've been working for this company for 2 and a half years, and i haven't used vacation once. I fell down the stairs a month ago, and hair fractured my lower right rib, so I spent 3 days in the hospital getting tests done. I returned to work with a doctors note for the 3 days of my absence, and requested 1 day off for September 1st. It was denied because my HR manager said I just took time off.
