Been working 2+ jobs for over 4 months to afford living on my own. I’m still paycheck to paycheck and struggling.

Rent – 800 Car Payment&Insurance – 420 childcare – 800 Cable – 100 Electric – 100 gas – 200 (if it stays around 4 a gallon.) food – 300 (if I'm lucking.) not including debts or drug habit That's $2,720 just to survive. I can't lie somedays I just want to give up. All work and no play really will drive you crazy. Some days I wish I went back to not living independently. I love having my own space but is it really worth it in the end. I quit all my jobs except my main but waiting on my new second to start up soon and just hoping I can keep this going.

Is my employer breaking the law? If so what can I do?

I started working for a landscaping company in CT March of this year. Things have been questionable from the start, but now that we’re in mid summer I’m really concerned for not only my health, but my coworkers, since we work outside all day long. First, we are not provided any water. We have to bring our own water and hope it lasts us until the end of the day, or stop at a gas station in the morning before we get to the job site. Keep in mind, we have to buy it with our own money. Once we get to the job site, if there is no bathroom available (there rarely is) we have to go in the woods. We work on mainly residential properties so that means finding an inconspicuous place to go, or holding it until we leave. God forbid if you have to go #2.…

I am leaving but still worried!! Help please

I am finally doing it and leaving a really toxic work environment. In the past the owners have made it extremely difficult to collect your final check. They will drag it out, tell you its ready, then the employee would get there and they tell them its not ready yet. They say they have to sign something saying it is there final check or whatever. It is just petty, narcissism on their behalf. So here is the kicker…. I have keys and a company credit card. I don't plan on turning anything in until I have my final check in hand. One because I don't trust them to try to do something stuipid with me and waste my time. and second bc it will drive them insane to know that I have keys to the building. They may even change locks. Before all this goes down. As soon as I…

I hate it when people log in early and then expect others to answer unscheduled calls

Do you experience the same? I'm trying to get a few things done before an actual login time as I'm working remotely, Am I supposed to be available to answer the call?

Credentialism is bad

Inflating cost of credentials with steadily declining returns. Companies wanting you to get experience with another company. Is credentialism good or bad because it seems to be a runaway train of 4 years of school and 2 years experience. The previous generations only needed high school. In before the jobs are harder. No they are easier thanks to the internet. You need a 4 year degree and ……whoops we just outsourced your job to county with no requirements because its half the cost Maybe we can shame people and call them credentialists

End of my rope

I work for the Alabama Community College System and I’m at the end of my rope after only a few years. I was hopeful and excited when I first got my job. I knew my work had meaning (or so I thought). The entire system is masquerading and fooling the public, but I see it for what it is: a giant polished turd. We take so much money from students but offer so little. I couldn’t even volunteer for work outside office hours because the “A/C would cost too much”. I volunteered to help with a gala to bring in donations from rich people. I make $13 an hour at the largest community college in the state and offered to kiss rich person ass to make the bosses happy. I can’t even afford to live in an apartment. I can’t even afford my therapy session this Friday. The VP of…
