I used Japan and USA demographic statistics to compare the Total Fertility Rate (TFR) of each respective country. My findings show that the USA currently mirrors Japan's demographic decline in the 1980s (see the table and graph below). If this continues, we can expect the USA to stagnate. A comparison of Japan & USA's Total Fertility rates; notice the similarities and the rate of decline. Table showing Demographic data comparing two time periods in each country.

Hi everyone, would really appreciate the help on this! For reference, I live in BC, Canada. I recently got a new job and have only been there for a month, so I’m still in my probation period. Unfortunately, I was let go a few days ago, due to my performance at the job. I’ve never been fired before and have been working since I was 15, I’m 22 now. I am pretty surprised and bummed that this happened to me. I asked my store manager today about my ROE as I applied for EI and was told that she isn’t sure if I’m supposed to get it since I’m still in probation. Tbh I’m not really sure how it works, from my knowledge, aren’t you supposed to receive it legally no matter what? Anyways, she said she would find out for me from higher ups. Can anyone vouch for this…
Inspiration for this post: During an interview recently this man wanted me to work a “trial shift” of 8 hours for free. I just laughed and instantly left cause i got shit to do Came to find out later he does this shit on the regular. People that attend the “probation” shift get fired at the end of the day and just never get payed since they didnt pass said trial
The best job type
Small companies. When you manage to find a place in a small company, most truly make you feel like your work is rewarded. The best I've found are groups of friends having fun with something they can profit off of, for example Team Cherry in the video gaming industry. They're a team of 3 that made what is widely known as one of the better metroidvanias, Hollow Knight and had a best-selling spot on Steam for a few months, which I can only imagine gave them so much more money out of a $20 game then one $60 usually makes.
So I’ve been in isolation since Saturday, when I tested positive. Where I live you need to be in isolation for 7 days. So i get out this Saturday. However, I was asked to work on Tuesday covering the shift I was supposed to do but couldn’t cause covid, by the RESTAURANT MANAGER. And then again ask to work on Wednesday, covering a time they know I can’t do. But what makes it worse? The manager who asked me to work on Wednesday is the manager i told about my positive test. They honestly don’t care. If you even feel sick and say you’re gonna take a test they try to guilt you out of it and say don’t do it.
Update to https://www.reddit.com/r/antiwork/comments/vrmihe/im_furious_this_email_was_sent_to_my_daughter/ After filing a claim and multiple chats with the labor union later, the company has decided to settle. They are now asking how much do we want to settle and I have no where to go find a normal settlement amount. They said at minimum she gets the amount that she lost when she had to quit the job after submitting the claim (became a toxic/stressful environment) but is letting her decide the number. Does anyone know what she should be looking at where she won't feel greedy, but at the same time, make sure that this company never treats their employees like this again? Just some context, she's been there for 2 years, has been treated badly since the beginning… but she's was young when she started and the pay was ok for an 18-year-old. Multiple promised wage increases never happened and the employees that remained…
Hey there! So I was wondering as to what my options could be. I worked at this bar for roughly two months as a barback and never had any issues. One night as I was feeling extremely tired I found myself dozing off behind the bar, and let me make it clear that I have been clean from everything other than the methadone that I receive from a clinic in a daily basis for the last six months. I was told to go home and get some rest, come back tomorrow. My job was and is extremely physical and it can be demanding at times, especially on my medications that include colnidine, gabapentin, and methadone (250mgs/daily). I was a bit distraught and texted my other boss who is a bit cooler, he told me to call him. After a long conversation of him trying to accuse me of using fentanyl…
It seemed like the perfect position. A 30% salary increase. Working from home permanently. Benefits weren't bad. Then, the red flags hit. I was too blind to see them. Now, I'm working 9 to 11 hour days and was put on a PIP and I hadn't been there for not even a year. I'm trying to get out ASAP, while applying to other companies FAST. I feel stupid taking the position. Last person quit because the environment was horrible. Hopefully I'll follow suit soon. Just remember folks. Go with your gut. If it's too good to be true, it then it is.
