Lots of downtime when working from home?
How much downtime do you get when you work from home? I see a lot of people on Reddit will say that they have a lot of downtime and get their work done in a few hours and get to do what they want on company time. I would love to have that kind of job as it seems like a dream job to have.
Quitting tomorrow and I feel guilty
My current job is pretty okay; I currently make $22/hr. But I just got an offer for $30/hr. Clearly I’m quitting; I’m not turning down that much of a pay raise. But I still feel guilty. I’m not the only manager in our district who has been interviewing with other companies. Our pay is just too low to be competitive. I feel bad leaving my team with extra work until positions are filled. I feel bad leaving my boss, who I genuinely like. But I can’t let it hold me back in life.
Writer must have realized something lol
I'm from Singapore, and just need to rant about the work cultures. The 5 most developed country in Asia but we can't even afford to get more than 14 days of leave or get a longer maternity or paternity leave? I read about the coffin houses of Hong Kong and the work to death culture in literally everywhere. Not sure about the others, but Singapore we do not even have a union for workers. Why is it so hellish for us?
…….But it's so easy to steal items through self-checkout. That, combined with costs to repair and maintain the machines, should completely negate the money saved by not having some extra cashiers on the clock. If you see a store getting rid of workers and installing more and more self-checkout machines….Well, I'm not telling you to do anything illegal…..But make sure you hit the company where it counts and maybe walk out with a couple items that “accidentally” didn't scan.
I feel like any passion I had for my chosen career is now gone. I am making around 50k despite working in my field for about 5 years.. I do feel like I am no longer motivated to take on multiple extra projects and commit many extra hours in order to get advancement in my career.. because future opportunities (1 level above my job with much greater responsibility) are paying like $60-65k that wouldn't let me enter a housing market and have a family anyway, and it seems to be alsmost impossible to get to that level unless you are an always “yes” sort of ass licker… ready to work 7 days a week and stay up until late in front of the work computer just to get that 10-15% pay bump.. My dream now is to have a $70 – 80k job.. JUST A JOB so I could pay…
