Month: July 2022
Okay a bit if context. I work in CA I work in dental. I started at this office about 4 months ago and was offered a job at a place with higher pay. Well as a courtesy I gave my boss a week notice and of course my coworkers were curious and asked how much I would be making. I told them. She calls me later today to tell me that it was unprofessional to discuss wages with my coworkers and told me not to even come in for my last day for this reason. Can someone enlighten me? Was this really unprofessional or did she just retaliate at me for having the discussion? Pretty sure I was making less than everyone one else anyway considering they have 10+ years more than me.
They asked me to order exams on behalf of physicians while I am not a doctor. Those patients are coming from another hospital even our own doctors refused to order exams for them without doing their own check up on the patients. The management refused and sent the patients right to our department without checking them with our own doctors. They even refused to get proper orders from those patients primary care doctors. Its a dangerous and illegal request. My coworkers accepted doing that while complaining how its not right. I told my management that I can’t do that I am not a doctor to order exams its outside my scope of practice. They got mad and texted me and requested that I come for a “disciplinary” meeting on my day off. I emailed them and said I resign.
So my coworker has worked for this company for 10 years, and found out that she had been passed over for a promotion and raise, and someone else had been hired in her place because this person had a college degree from an American university. This is a woman who has dedicated the last 10 years of her life to this company, and has given up holidays and vacations for the benefit of the company, and found out today that she’s been passed over strictly because her degree was from a university outside of the United States. I was disgusted. The person they hired is 20 years younger and has no experience. How do I make sense of this?
I got an email about 30 minutes ago basically saying that we did nothing wrong, but the company is parting ways with us all due to a change in partnership. Our last day will be Friday, but until then they would like us to “continue to remain professional during your remaining scheduled shifts.” Mind you this is a company that required 2 months notice if we wanted to quit. Fuck them.
