Sounds familiar…
On mobile blah blah. So yeah, I’m an assistant at a practice (being vague of course), and I asked to leave early today since we didn’t have any other appointments and at that point no one else could book our last slots. Asked the office manager to leave, she states, “just don’t complain about your hours.” Background, I couldn’t book my dog walker for today and not trying to invite a rando into my apt last minute. I’ve also complained about unfair scheduling and hours previously (I’m working every Sat for months on end), and wanting to be involved on surgery days, only happens on Mon/Tues, which I rarely work. I’m missing out on a lot of learning opportunities when I’m not working these two days, even if I’m not skilled enough to support surgery. Also, Saturdays are shorter days, so yeah, I’m losing out on hours which I stated…
Am I whining or is this actually unfair?
Sorry! Couldn’t figure out how to edit. I wanted to post on here because I wanted opinions on whether I am being whiny or if other people think this is ridiculous too. So I work as a follow up insurance rep for a couple of providers here in indiana, basically orthopedics. For follow up, we basically try to be a liasion between our providers and the insurance companies to get claims paid. Usually involves filing appeals being familiar with claims languages and so on…so interesting i know! Anyways, we have a dedicated call center to take calls from patients and when they are short staffed management CONSTANTLY asks us to be on the phones. It makes me super anxious to take calls, some of these people get VERY upset (understandable but some are downright jerks) and I never have a good day. Between multiple medical leaves and a maternity leave…
Just started a new job in IT Staffing right out of college. The job is unrelated to my degree, but I took it because I was relieved to have a job lined up and have that security of what I would do after graduation. Only thing is, there is nothing secure about it. They promised a training program which turned out to actually be a weed out program, and 2 months in 11/63 of us have been fired. They even fired someone last week who did meet their very challenging metrics every week, but “didn’t show much improvement” and wasn’t going above and beyond. I constantly am struggling to meet their metrics, and try everything in my power to do my best, but I still can’t help but worry that I’m next to go. Now I’m stuck between a rock and a hard place because I need to sign a…
My old manager was the grinch all along!
This was brought to mind by that post about stolen pizzas. I was going to put it in a comment, but it ended up longer than anticipated. Go figure. Back in the mid-'00s i worked at this… difficult to describe store. Think “larger dollar store trying to be a pissant walmart that doesn't sell food” and you're on the right track. We essentially sold knickknacks, books, movies, pop culture clothing, random bullshit, you get the idea. That year the company had good profits, so as Christmas gifts they were giving us $100 gift cards and a “mystery gift.” Yeah, $100 gift cards aren't shit on the millions they made, but that would've been grocery money to my broke college student ass. The mystery gift? Never found out what the hell it was. See, when we came in for the day the boxes were all stacked on a table in the…
I’m new to Nevada so maybe there are weird showgirl style laws here? I keep seeing job descriptions like this one. When people say “commission only” do they mean “or minimum wage at minimum” like… y’know… normal labor laws? It sounds hellish to work in 100 degree heat and only be paid if tourists want to throw axes that day.
