Best example: local college is a gov.institution and will hire you with the understanding you will work full time but will be given a mandatory 2 weeks off. This will be seen as you not showing up for work for an extended period. After this break you will be allowed to work the position again but without being able to claim benefits, as the gap is time is sufficient to deny you coverage essentially filling a temp position with a weirdly permanent employee. I’ve heard the post office does this too where the claim is they’re hiring for peak temporary help but they just resign their old temps, for years. Anyone else?

Maximizing efficiency at work
I work at a power plant which requires staffing 24/7. We have rotating 12 hour shifts, so nights and weekends are standard. It's very busy sometimes, but if things are going smoothly we get some downtime. I taught a couple coworkers how to add YouTube AdBlock to their browsers at their workstation computers. Now they're more efficient in their loafing on the clock. For those who want to know, just search for the extension web store for your browser and search “YouTube AdBlock”. Check for both high rating and high quantity of reviews. Add the extension that looks good, close your browser, open it back up, and if you want to get back where you were you can hit Ctrl+Shift+T to reopen closed tabs. The whole process takes under a minute. Some of you may be thinking “cool, but IT blocks us from downloading stuff to try to prevent malware.”…
Companies keep complaining of not being able to find tech talent, when the initial screening stage depends on solving stupid puzzles (hackerrank and such). These tests have nothing to do with what the job entails, and are poorly structured. I feel sick when I receive one of these online tests.
What’s your preferred 40hr schedule?
I'm currently working a job where we work 6-2:30 M-F. I enjoy the work I do but the union contract will begin negotiations soon and I have been talking to some of my coworkers about going to a 4/10 schedule. I previously had a job working 4/10s and I really liked having a 3 day weekend. Even when we worked OT, having 2 days off was much more enjoyable than only 1. Additionally, most of my coworkers commute 30min-45min each way, so, that would be an extra 1.5 hours a week they would have to themselves. It just seems to make sense to me. Can anyone add some input on the pros and cons of such a schedule? Or an alternate schedule you've worked and enjoyed.
How do I know Where not to go?
Why are all of the names of businesses doing shitty things almost always hidden on posts here? Is it individuals worried about losing their jobs, or is there a more sinister legal reason?
Theres a rule at work that if I call in the day before or after my shift, I dont get holiday pay. They know I'm injured? What should I even do? Planning on going to work anyways and explaining that I'm still injured, and get sent home lmao.
