This happened around 7 years ago. I got an interview at a veterinary clinic that was a direct competitor to a clinic I previously worked at for 6 years. During my interview the Employer asked what I'm looking for as a wage. I told him $14 hourly, as that was the wage I wanted from my old work but my former boss refused. The Employer said “we can definitely do $14” and I was hired. However, first he wanted me to do 2 days work unpaid “for training”. I reluctantly agreed, but should have seen this as the first of many red flags come. After my first 2 weeks, I received my pay and it is $11 an hour, which was minimum wage at the time. I ask my employer why it wasn't $14 and he gives me some bs about “well, I have high hopes for you but I…

I need a break
I'm a doctor, or general practitioner. I started working in 2020 and haven't stopped since. I was the COVID doctor of a whole city. Now I'm working in a rural post in another city that belongs to my country's public healthcare system. I really like my job but I need a break. In my country, if you work for the public system it's like you've had just one employer. I sent a request for recognition of worked years a month ago, but they haven't even answered the email. So today I had an appointment with a psychiatrist who diagnosed me with a burnout and gave me 21 paid days off, which would have been the vacation I would have had if they answered my email. Since they didn't, I'll have these days off and then I'll have extra vacation because the law says they have to recognise my worked time…
Have been looking for a second job recently, saw a craigslist ad for a local business looking to hire someone “asap” so I reached out and they asked me to come in for an interview. I thought I was lucky to find a job so quick so I quickly headed over for the interview. After waiting for the owner for about an hour he walked in and looked at me and asked if I was Hispanic and I said yes. He then asked “so do you have papers?” and I said I was born here. His response: “look I'll be honest pay is $6 an hour so this job is for someone with no papers and no other options.” I didn't even know how to respond, I feel like reporting the business but they had about 5 employees who I'm assuming are undocumented and don't want to risk them getting…
I really like where I work…but I have not been getting paid my worth. I used to tell myself I’m just too inexperienced to be worth more right now, but you all have opened my eyes over the last few years. I have been employee of the year for the last 2 years in a row at my company. I take time to learn new systems and implement better workflows in nearly everything I touch. I’ve worked hard to become basically irreplaceable mostly for my own peace of mind during the uncertainty of COVID… but this sub showed me my news skills have VALUE and other companies will pay well for them. After taking on a lot of additional responsibility over COVID-19 (way outside my job description), I presented my boss with a chart that outlined my current daily tasks, the skills needed to preform them, and my current market…
Title says it all. I've been at this job for almost 5 years. I recently got another job and put in my two weeks last Monday. Today I got curious and asked the guy I was training for my position how much he made. He makes over $2/hr more than me. I've been asking for a $1/hr raise for over 2 years and was told I just need to work harder to prove myself. I need to work overtime if I need more money. The works. I put in my 2 weeks so I could help train the new guys how to do things. I didn't want to screw them over, even with how much I hated my boss. I couldn't take it anymore today, so they are now untrained, under qualified, and both make more than me. My only regret is that I couldn't tell my boss to shove…
