Just that. I don’t understand them. If you want someone to work for you, great. If they seem intelligent and capable, great. I don’t understand why they feel the need to do this. And the argument is always “sounds like you have something to hide” if you disagree with this practice, which is a logical fallacy and completely anti worker rights. Edit: not sure why I’m getting downvoted. I guess there are people on this sub that think drug tests are not a violation?
I've been working PRN at a mental health crisis center for a little over a year now. I decided to go PRN when I started because there was a pay bump and my insurance was cheaper than the cut in pay, I didn't get any PTO but that wasn't a big deal to me at the time. We just merged with another company and they don't have extra pay for PRN vs full time so I requested to move to full time because there was no point for me staying PRN since I'm working 3 12s. I successfully got moved to full time working 3 12-hour shifts, but the day I did, I was told that full time requirements with the company we merged with are 40 hours a week, and since I only work 36, I'd be considered part time. So I still won't get benefits and my PTO…
Maybe a rhetorical question. Heard someone say “See you boss” or something like that on the way out today and I almost had to go back to the toilets to throw up
Advice on asking for a pay raise
Being lurking for a while, so figured this might be the best place to ask about this matter. I am a Systems Engineer working in the Greater Seattle area currently making $80k a year (base), plus health/dental, an ESOP plan, 401(k), and a holiday bonus (not always guaranteed but have gotten on since I have started). Started working with the company 6 years ago as a helpdesk technician and moved up from there. Due to having to take care of a sick family member, I am now living paycheck to paycheck again. After looking around online, I have noticed other companies offering more for the same role. I know this is never a fun conversation to have, but what items should I bring with me into the meeting?
Got my annual review today.
I got my annual review today. I was rated all 5's/Strong in all my metrics. I get a 3% raise. This is the fifth year in a row of below inflation annual raises. My “bonus” should be about $80 (for the year) In real terms, I make less than I did when I started. This from the company that Forbes calls “The best large company in America to work for”. I want to step in front of a bus.
Let me buy your life, ok?
