My store manger got some traffic ticket and needed to show up to court to pay for it on Thursday. I’m not sure what the exchange was between them but ultimately the regional manager (who everything has to be approved through) would not let him take the time off to go deal with. So he has a bench warrant out because he wasn’t able to leave work (at a gas station). And when he texted her that he now has a warrant out, she just sent back “LOL”. He wanted to go deal with it the next day, Friday, but she still wouldn’t let him, saying he needs to deal with the merchandise truck. This is a story from last year. I have been a freelance graphic designer for over 6 years now and completed almost 1000 projects. For a couple of years, my business was going slow and I was barely getting any work. So I decided to work in an office instead. This is the interview experience I had that made me not go on an office job path. I submitted my CV and my portfolio. I got selected and they called me for an interview. Little bit of background. I’m 25 M and I started working in restaurants at 16 years old. By age 20 I told myself I need to chase some kind of career path and not get stuck in food service. So from age 20-24 I worked as a: nanny, caregiver for the elderly and disabled, and in a dental clinic as a sterilization technician, even received a certification after taking a course on it all. In each one of these jobs, the pay was anywhere from 12.50$/hr to 16.50$/hr. The lowest of the low was when I worked at a day program for individuals with autism and Down syndrome, I would have six clients with me for 8 hours a day for MINIMUM WAGE. We see posts daily about people being harassed by a boss to cover someone else's shift. Most bosses could cover for that person, but that option never seems to come up. Shouldn't that be mentioned as a possibility?

First, some back story: I work for a chain of dental offices. They're open 6 days a week, full time employees work 5 days a week- pretty standard work week, yeah? Except for the part where the office is open 10 hours a day M-F, and 7-8 hours each Saturday. So a full time employee works 4 full week days, and Saturday (every employee is required to work 2 saturdays a month), or a half day one of the weekdays. That's already a bit ridiculous for working in an office setting, but those were the terms of employment upon hire. I personally don't understand why we need to be open Saturdays at all. It makes it more difficult for employees to schedule social activities and take care of personal projects at home. Heaven forbid you need to request off a Saturday, or even rest to be fresh for the next…

So this happened years ago, but I still feel upset and very hurt. I was working at a hotel in Iceland, as a teenager. I was very fragile, with undiagnosed autism and deep depression and you could probably tell. Anyway, I made some mistake, cleaned some rooms wrong, and the owner called me into the office. He then proceded to scream at me and break me down until I cried. I want to leave a review on the hotel explaining what happened to me, it feels unfair and he was evil.

So observing the post in the subreddit, I want to come out and admit my story. So starting in May 2020, I got laid off and looked for another. Then I found Hardees as a job to work for a while. Biggest mistake. From May June 2021, it was so fucking bad to the point I disconnected myself from my family, and I gained 30 ILBS. Causes we're only working on a Sunday from the last day of my high school career and scheduled me for that all month. People ordering specific orders that didn't go with the food Doing big orders by myself. People wanting a more cooked meat One woman wanted hash browns golden and not take it what it was.
