Employer is blocking me from using half of my vacation days because I need to take FMLA time

I live in Michigan and I’m getting my wisdom teeth removed next week so I asked for hr to clarify fmla time for me. While speaking with hr they told me that they would be taking half of my remaining vacation days if I qualify for fmla. I only have 1 vacation day left to use this year but it still seems unfair and possibly illegal to penalize me for using fmla time. I also spoke with my supervisor and he said that when he got into a motorcycle accident a few years back they also took half his vacation days away, so this is something that they’ve always done. They did say that I’ll still get paid out for the time they locked at the end of the year. Just wondering if anyone knows if this is standard procedure or if they are up to some shady shit TLDR:company…

No Profit Sharing yet the owner received a $30 million dollar dividend.

So my work recently came out with a company wide bulletin explaining that the reason why we have not received profit sharing in a few years was due to no profit due to whatever reasons. Now due to Covid and supply issues I can get that. My issue is the owner received a $30 million dollar dividend the same year. Am I crazy thinking that the reason there is no profit is because he took it all or is their other reasons why somebody would get such a large dividend? If this is BS how do I call out such bullshit?

I reported my workplace to the Department of Labor

Hey all. I work at a restaurant in the US that gives us the cash tips but not the credit card ones. The credit card tips just go towards the restaurant’s profits. This has been going on for 3.5 years. When approaching the owners about this, they have said that it is not illegal for them to take the credit card tips since we’re making above minimum wage. They always have some sort of excuse. Well, I started to get suspicious that there was something illegal about this, so I called the federal Department of Labor yesterday to file a report and they said they will decide what to do about the situation and probably do an “investigation” on the issue. I’m curious if anyone on here has filed a complaint with the DoL before and knows what will happen next?

There’s a strike on Saturday? We’re forcing all staff to take enforced annual leave from their allowance.

Hoo boy. Never thought I’d be posting on here as for the most part I love my job on the railway. The drivers are striking on Saturday so naturally far fewer trains are running. Our internal comms told us that if our booked shifts weren’t running then we’d be reverted to spare/attend a teams training session or if we chose to we could use an Annual Leave (AL) day if there was availability. So imagine my surprise when I’ve just gotten an email saying “as per the recent comms you’ve been placed on an AL day for Saturday” without my prior consent. They used my personal allowance of leave to give me the day of the strike off, a day which I was intending to use later on in the year. The union is fucking furious that staff are being forced to take AL and are seeking legal advice. This…
