Let me start by saying I am terrible at confrontation. This place literally fired my husband while I was out on unpaid maternity leave because they claim he was unhappy. They don't have any benefits. Despite this, I came back to work (early) and worked another 16 months never to say a word about what they did to my family. (While being a '”family” company). I plan on quitting soon because I just want to be home with my baby & this place has never appreciated the job I do, they have only exploited me and my efforts. They baited me with a “managerial position” just to never promote me. They tell me “you're one of the highest paid CSRs you should just be happy.” They constantly throw the “we've done so much for you” in my face even though those things referred to are typical work decencies. I absolutely…
Month: July 2022
Unqualified employee and training.
I work in a very specialized field that requires training from original equipment manufacturers to complete the repairs and maintenance on said equipment. We have currently lost 2 trained techs, 1 retires in a month, 1 is 450 lbs and 65 years old, and the last is pushing 70. My manager thought it would be a great idea to hire his student(he teaches electrical theory at a community college) to do a job that she has no training for, no experience doing, and no background in. I understand everyone has to start somewhere, but the issue is that management has not created a plan to get her properly trained, and she now expects me (35 year old workhorse) to train her while my useless co-workers do nothing. I told her to talk to management and that it’s not my fault they are setting her up for failure. If I wanted…
Got written up because I had to call in because my house was a crime scene and I wasn’t allowed to leave my house until we were all questioned. Still came into work the next day even after dealing with someone dying/having to clean up after the coroner left. Heavy trauma and couldn’t go 5 minutes without crying. But still managed to get written up.
When I say ineligible I mean I was told I “ You Don’t qualify since I’ve been employed less than a year.” Have fun talking to my lawyer scumbags. Lol.
Y'all, please tell me whether I'm crazy for feeling so angry and frustrated and insulted by this… I'm seriously still so mad that I'm contemplating looking for new work. Background: I work as a paralegal in a mid-size law firm of considerable prestige in my city. I've been here for 5 years, and I've consistently been highly praised for my performance, dedication, and general attitude/contribution to company culture. For about 3 of my 5 years here, I've single handedly carried the workload in my department, as the firm had a hard time hiring, and when they did hire, they brought in people so terrible that I was still the person doing 90+% of the work. All this to say, I'm an asset to this company, and I've stuck around because they (act like they) value me, provide a great work-life balance, and provide decent pay and benefits. Yesterday, though, I…
I’ve been in the food industry for 20+ years and finally found a job that caused to you say “fuck it!” I’m also on mobile, so sorry. I started working in the prep department of this cafe setting a few months ago and was told a few important things upon being hired. “It’s a two person job, you’d be working independently from the cafe, you’ll be in charge of your own breaks.” I started by training with “Penelope” and after the first few days things were looking pretty good. We got along well, she worked damn hard and I thought I had kept up well and we were able to get a lot done and leave feeling pretty good about the day. Fast forward a few weeks and Penelope is scheduled to work with me as usual except that as she’s such a strong worker she gets pulled up front…
In my state, employers have to give us 1 hour of sick time for every 30 hours worked. That amounts to 5.79 hours of sick time a month if I work full time. My current employer gives me 6.6 hours a month for time off that includes my sick time, too…. In other words, theyre only giving me my 5.79 hours of sick time that they are obligated to by law and .80 hours of PTO for myself…. Organizations like this really scam their workers and should be fined! I'm already -72 hours of time of because I've needed to go to a doctor and didn't have enough time off. Time to find a new job…
