I’m mid level in my career making about $100k. Will likely soon be going to a new company and I’m thinking of giving no notice when I leave(for a variety of reasons). Has anyone sone something similar? Had any ramifications? I don’t mean a job like Walmart or McDonald’s or something requiring no degree. Nobody cares when they leave a job.

Toxic Boss?
There is a lot of red flags with this boss. But in our last 1:1 she literally told me she is going to put one of my peers on a PIP plan.. is this normal? Also, I just hate my job at this point so my perspective can be clouded right now.
I got hired at McDonald’s last week but I got a better offer yesterday. I already got an offer, filled out a W2, linked my direct deposit, gave them my information, etc. Today was supposed to be my first shift but I just didn’t go. Am I in trouble?
Boomers: as Parents vs Bosses
I’m not sure why genx is surprised by the “nobody wants to work anymore” mentality from boomers. They were our parents. We were latchkey kids. We were the first generation with both parents out of the house regularly and had to fend for ourselves. We were the first generation with the explosion of the microwave (and instant meals). While kids always played until dark, boomers had the benefit of mother’s watchful eye from the kitchen window or a strong social network (so, you knew neighbors also kept an eye out). Why are we so shocked that these people turned around and became our bosses, who expect us to be 100% autonomous, expect us to fill the gaps, and offer little guidance/support? I think the problem is that we are so used to it, we always did it. It took millennials/genZ to say, “um, this is not always ok…”
I know this is a very long stretch asking this particular subreddit this question I'm hoping to try one more job in the current career trajectory I'm on, but I've worked for so many shitty places I feel like I'm never going to be able to use the skills I'm proud of in a full time work environment. Here's hoping if I get this next job I've just interviewed for it'll be better. But again, if it sucks I'm possibly looking for a career change, and to just do what I currently do now as a freelancer. So what do you guys do that you can at least tolerate? Looking for some ideas, haha. I'm a graphic/UI designer for context. But really willing to try anything that doesn't require thousands of dollars for schooling.
Don’t ever trust your employer.
I’m a supervisor at a large hotel. I’m generally known as the “squeaky wheel”. I have been fighting for better pay for almost a year. After losing half my department and barely being able to run shifts, about a month ago we secured a 3-4 dollar raise across the board for hourly employees in my department. The better rate was suppose to start July 9th and today was our first paycheck received with our new pay. So far no one on my team got their raise and all they are telling us is “we’re working on it”. We all had to sign confidentiality agreements with our raises as well so it’s hairy talking about it around work. My team as well as myself are livid and it’s just another reason I feel I can’t trust my employer.
Just got fired from work:
So basically my name is Frank and I work as a security guard in a shopping mall in Nebraska. Every Sunday or Monday I can’t remember which, a man named Gene (who works in the Cinnabon downstairs) will bring me and my colleague Cinnabon’s. We’ll be chatting about the game, whilst I eat. Turns out during one of our chats I turned away from the security cameras, causing me to miss a heist in motion. The guy apparently slipped on the floor mid heist, but because I missed out on it, because of Gene I ended up getting fired because I wasn’t paying attention and doing my job. Now my wife is upset at me because I ate too many Cinnabon’s, and for some reason this odd small person keeps saying Dammit Jerry every time she walks by me. Might have to follow it up with my backup job, working…
As of now self help is dominated by “boss babes” and avoidance of toxicity [as opposed to confronting it]. None of it identifies rightfully the cause of their anguish as capitalism & the individualist philosophy that thwarts solidarity.
