First time working retail and I already hate it

So to start, I’m just gonna say that this is more of a vent outlet for me than anything. I apologize for the long, rambling text walk that will follow and I know that compared to a lot of the stuff on here this is small potatoes so if anyone thinks I’m being a little bitch that’s fine. But I need to get this out (and frankly I have an easier timing screaming problems to the void than to my close ones for whatever reason). I am 21 years old and I still live with my parents. My only job for the longest time was being a freelance video editor because video editing is my passion, but the problem is freelancing isn’t the most consistent work. This year I’ve been super paranoid about money for many reasons (including wanting to provide more to the household), so I decided to get…

Do you support?

Saw this in the wild: “I'm hopeful the era of the Robber Barons is coming to an end as more and more workers strike for better working conditions around the world. All of the workers of the world need to come together and go on a coordinated world-wide work strike to show the owners of the world we want more! Let's make the day after Labor Day the World Workers Strike Day, September 6, 2022. Spread the word!”

Thoughts on those working in non-profit/charity sectors?

Just wondering how this community views those of us who have chosen to work for organisations that we believe in/see the value of. Because I've been told that I didn't join the organisation for the money (my pay is a fairly below market rate), which is true, but my pay is shriveling in this economy, and I'm also aware that being told to love our jobs or to “find out what we are passionate about” may be a capitalist scam. :/

Remote jobs with no actual work?

Has anyone found any remote jobs where there's little to no actual work? If you have, how did you find it and what are the qualifications for the role? And if you're comfortable sharing, how much do you get paid for doing nothing?

Why are companies against wfh?

Isn't it more cost effective? If their staff works from home, they can safe plenty of money on rent and/or use the available space for other things. Productivity in computer jobs is easily measurable. There's no argument to be made for productivity, if you can just makensure that everybody does their job and gets their things done in time. Seriously, I don't get it. I have a business myself and why would I care about anything else than my employees getting their job done in time and thus making their employment worthwhile? I don't care if you work exact hours (unless you're support or something that needs to be available at specific times. I don't care if you wear pants I don't care if you drink beer or margharitas I don't care if you play with your kids or watch tv I don't care if you eat pizza Just as…

Temp work agencies experiences

So I wanted to know your experiences with these temp work agencies.I feel companies abuse them so they can keep you chasing that carrot for years, while you get week to week contracts and you can't plan anything long term. I worked for a company for a year on day to day contracts, after finally getting week to week contracts.I'm so done with that bs. But it's the way it works here in my country (belgium). If you want to apply for a job, you go trough the job agencies. And when the time comes to hire you, they can just say, not good enough, so they don't have to hire you. It's the biggest scam and makes me so frustrated trying to get a job. I had a job agency lie to me about the job and the time it took to get a fulltime contract just to get some one…
