The company I work for schedules people part time to avoid any of the good benefits, typical. Anyway, most of us get 28-34 hours per week or so. Often though, we’ll be asked to stay over if we don’t have an 8 hour day/not near 40 hours So a 10:00-3:30pm shift, we’ll sometimes be asked to stay until 7:00. At this point, I want my life lol not so much the hours They just assume we’ll stay What’s a good reason to say no? Their big thing is a shift not being 8 hours, so it’s legal to stay and all that I want to think of something good without seeming snarky, I’m not one of those people who can just quit

I want to update you all on my work situation from 6 months ago but need some clarification on rules. Since my ex boss and I appeared in the local newspaper back in January and video footage exists online, I feel there's no reason or justification to insult the reader's intelligence by maintaining a veneer of anonymity or privacy. Quite the opposite: I want to link to that material to better humanize my story and I want to make sure it'll fly instead of getting kiboshed. Let me know below. you may even take a pay cut at first but i sware to you doing what you enjoy is worth the temporary suffering. that is, if you can afford to do thay. look im anti work but doing something you enjoy can make your life better in the long run tenfold, but obviousky not everyone has that luxary, but i make more money than i ever did cooking doing construction with less experience and less effort and stress.

I was written up today because I didn't get something done last week. On at least 3 occasions, I have mentioned that the recent increase in responsibilities I have been given (without compensation) is making it difficult for me to get my day-to-day tasks done. Allegedly they understand – but then they added even more to me. Last week I was so overwhelmed with all the tasks it set off my freeze mode in my anxiety response and I had to force myself through it. Last week was hard because I was having extreme hip pain from being in the chair so long, my brain fog from my hypothyroidism was really bad, and my eye strain made it near impossible to read my screen. I am so tired of crying at my desk because I want to get up and go outside. I am so tired of working 40 hours…

Well that was fun Preface this to say I live in a town with five stoplights, its an island. There’s only one school district. So everyone is pretty much on a first name basis with everyone else or knows of everyone. I worked at a school district as a para for 5 years before resigning to go to college to pursue a higher education full time. After a few years I decided to switch to schooling part time and apply back to work as a para at my old school district. I left on great terms with everyone so no problem! After submitting my resume (with 11 years work experience overall in relative fields) I had a principal contact me the next day. Within a weekend I had an interview arranged. Lovely interview. Many years ago I worked in a warehouse / factory that assembled and shipped cameras. I was hired for a 2 month contract, and within a week of starting I was doing all the work on the shipping g floor while the other two employees scrolled Facebook all day. The company hired a German dude to streamline everything, this dude was a total robot, think data but not as fun or cool. Anyway I mentioned what was going on a couple times and how I wasn’t making enough to make ends meet. I got reprimanded about my attitude. Then another job that paid like 5$ more an hour came up and I got a start date within a week of my contract being up so I just didn’t fuckin show up to work after the contract was up.
