I don't see any posts about organizing when this platform created the greatest form of social organization in history. I see plenty of posts calling out the problem but none organizing the subscribed. This sub is already in the news it just has to get organized into something more than complaining. I'm not the one for the job but someone out there has the ability and knowledge to turn antiwork into the powerful movement it should be.
Fell for an MLM?
You might have seen my previous post talking about my last job: https://www.reddit.com/r/antiwork/comments/vra902/my_job_claims_to_be_like_a_family/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share Point is, I thought I found a great job! Working as a go-between for donors and non-profits, working to retain them…basically sales but less scummy. Best part, I was told it was about 60-100k a year, depending on retention rates. 11-6 shift. But I'm pretty sure I'm deep in an MLM scam that runs back years and I have no idea what to do. I'm at a loss for words really. First red flag, I don't get a response for a week after my second interview. No response to texts. I finally get a text saying they tried to call me to offer a fundraising coordinator position. Weird, because I hadn't seen anything on missed calls or in my email. Anyway, second red flag- I show up for my first day and it feels like a frat…
That’s the gist lol. I’ve worked here for about two months and put in my two weeks last week for various reasons. Seems I started an avalanche because two other coworkers also submitted their resignations yesterday, and another today, and then another is halfway out the door. We work in a production warehouse of sorts and conditions are not great. We don’t get paid nearly enough for the 10 hour days, and there are open containers of glue and chemicals all over. Temps can reach almost 100 degrees on bad days because we have an industrial size conveyor dryer running all day and the AC doesn’t work. We also get no breaks besides an unpaid 30 min lunch. Seems like everyone is just fed up. This is gonna totally nuke the boss’s production but ¯_(ツ)_/¯
FB Post From My Step Dad
I had two interviews with a company; one with a HR rep and the second with the managers of the department. The HR person said the position could be done fully remote. In fact, they stressed that the managers just wanted the right candidate and that person could work on the other side of the country as long as they had the experience. During the second interview though, the managers made it seem that the in office work would be mandatory but they were very vague on how often that would be. They said they would need me in the office a couple times a month possibly. The commute is long enough for it to be a hassle/ costly and I’m afraid that they will want me in the office more than what they are alluding to. The managers confirmed if the ideal candidate was in a different state they…
Dealing with most bosses
Happened a while ago but just found this subreddit. My buddy owned a taproom and really needed help finding cooks. I had accepted a job that would pay me a very good wage. I wasn't doing anything besides playing video games and drink so I told him I'd help! I had season tickets to college football (the university I just graduated from). I told him and my direct manager that I'd agree to work if and only if I could make every home game. Everyone agreed and it worked beautifully for 3 weeks. The manager tried scheduling me on a game day. I immediately told her I couldn't and she said “If you go to this game you might not have your job” I answered with a simple, “That's fine” all of a sudden she changed her tone and immediately worked to find someone to cover the shift. She did…
2 weeks notice is a double standard
I was laid off without notice. I was asked to turn in my equipment that same day. And yet they expect me to provide 2 weeks notice if I plan to quit? why in the christ?
