She is really irritating to me. She turns on Indian music all day at work during a 13 hour shift but she doesn’t ask me first if it’s okay with me. I work as a pharmacist so I need to concentrate in order to check off prescriptions (otherwise my patients may die if I do a miscalculation or dispensing error) so her Indian music is really distracting. I don’t understand what her Indian music is saying so it’s really deterring my attention away from my job. She could’ve listened to her music during her breaks yet she chooses to blast that music in my face 13 hours straight. She also explains things very poorly the first time in her Indian accent, and when I ask her to repeat herself, she gets angry at me and accused me of being “slow” when in fact I just can’t understand her heavy Indian…
Month: July 2022
A warning and lesson.
This is one of my first reddit posts ever so please excuse any errors I made with formatting and such. Now the context; I am a young adult male living in North America. I was recently hired at my first job a few months ago and everything went smoothly for the first few weeks, then the managers started to question my bathroom breaks( most I went was 3 times during 6 hour shift, and normally I tried to go before work as to not even create such a problem in the first place). The managers were run by an absolutely nasty and controlling woman, who used the war in Ukraine as an excuse to treat us like shit(yes she is Ukrainian). Basically my experience and that of every other employee I knew at my short time there consisted of passive aggressiveness being the norm and God Forbid you dare question…
This guy I’m talking to is 23. He works 3 jobs, one is seasonal. He teaches kayaking during summer and warm seasons, he works in finance, and he started a business while in college which helped him pay all student loan debt before even graduating. I’m very impressed by him, but I worry a lot. He constantly tells me how stressed he is from work, and he’s not even in the busy season for his main source of income. Once busy season picks up, he typically works from 10am-2am. I’ve asked him why he does this, and he says it’s optional however the team he works on decides their hours together, and the others suggest it or don’t seem to mind. He wants to buy a house and a car within the next year. Honestly his ambition is impressive to me. He says he does it so he can have…
What is the sign to quit your job?
Anyone mind stating their sign? It's not a bad workplace, but it's not perfect.
I have been interning at a fortune 200 company. I have been talking to people around the office and have gathered some information that truly upset me about how our world works. Was talking to my department head, he’s a very down to earth guy speaks his mind and is very honest which shocks me but I genuinely respect I make 15 an hour, he told me when he intern at the same company I did in 1997 he was getting 12.50. I am truly amazed that the pay rate increased 10% in 25 years.
i requested today off, right on the day of the deadline to request days off. they gave me the two other days i needed off, but i called my manager and told her i wouldn’t be able to come in because i’m 2 hours away, and stuck in standstill traffic. i’m on “thin ice” for being sick. i have very young siblings (i am an adult so it’s not “an excuse”) that go to day care and camps and are constantly sick. they always get me sick. i’ve gotten covid once from work and twice from them already, and because of all this i’m on thin ice. sorry for all the explaining. but she told me i still needed to come in. i JUST got home at 8:50ish from bringing my half sister home, and we close at 9. she said to come in whenever i get in. can i…
scared after being fired
Before I was fired over “concerns,” my coworker would falsely accuse me of abuse, while other coworkers were actually abusive. However when I was fired they offered me a part time position instead of what I had been doing before which I declined. I’m worried that I could be investigated or arrested for stuff I didn’t even do. My boss did catch me in a moment of slight frustration, though. A child was eating in her high chair (would not eat otherwise), and the other children kept grabbing her food and climbing on the chair almost knocking it over. She gave me a look and I was called in two days later. I was telling the kids sternly that it isn’t safe to climb on it and that we only eat our own food. At no point during these 15 minutes or so did i do anything weird other than…
A co-worker turned me onto this earlier this year and I have been dutifully practicing since. If you take a 10 minute bathroom break every day at work, by the end of the year you accumulate over a full weeks worth of PTO, I call it my defa-vacation. Enjoy.
Sorry for the vent post. Long time lurker but never hit a breaking point until now. Long story short, I work for healthcare and I woke up in this situation because I graduated college with an art degree right in the middle of COVID and needed to make rent. I’m 2 years into a field that I don’t care about. Now, I am pierced and heavily tattooed so this is the first corporate job i’ve ever had because i was led to believe people who looked like me could only do entry level labour jobs. I make about $24 an hour at this new job and I am constantly being nitpicked and micromanaged. Dealing with some stuff (family with cancer, personal issues, etc) and I guess my work has taken a bit of a hit. When I say I work in healthcare what I mean is I make training materials…
