I do a lot of gigs for the airport on an app called Roadie. Basically, I deliver baggage, and I really enjoy it. Well… did enjoy it. They have these carts to put the luggage on, but it’s very loud and vibrates. That really distracts and hurts my brain so I just carry the bags two at a time to my car and make 2-3 trips. It takes a little longer, but I like to take my time and enjoy my day without all the stimulation. A Delta baggage representative, for reasons I couldn’t even explain, hates me on a personal level it felt like. She always said “why aren’t you taking the cart??” “Everyone takes the cart you need to use it.” I explain myself and she says that maybe this job is too much for someone with autism… what? No, I deliver the bags just a good as…
Month: July 2022
Just started a new full time job
after taking a couple months off to travel and enjoy life. All I gotta say is… man, I forgot how much this shit sucks! Time to visit this sub everyday again I guess.
I work in an office. I do software. At my job I am required to take a 1 hour unpaid lunch break. I asked my manager if I could take a 15 minute break and leave 45 minutes early— 4:15 instead of 5:00. The answer was “no.” I can't take a 15 minute lunch, but I still have to stay until 5:00. Anyone else think this is stupid? I just want to avoid rush hour and not waste 45 minutes if my day 5 days a week waiting for my lunch break to end.
I work as a detailer at a car dealership. I technically work for a third party contractor, but we abide by the rules of the dealership. Closing time is at 8 PM local time. Recently, myself and my coworkers are held here past closing time, usually a minimum of half an hour, sometimes longer. I know, that's not a big deal, but it's also a half hour drive one way from work to home and the shift itself is 9 hours long already. They say it's because they are still trying to close out last minute sales, but I'm starting to think they're doing it on purpose to specifically hold us here. It is not hard to sell cars to customers, either they take it or they don't, and they can leave at closing time and finish the sale or pick up the car another day.
it feels like this sometimes

I worked at a brewery in my city for 5 years, I quit 3 years ago after the owner took away our discount on food, merchandise and every other incentive. We used to get “good job” gift cards all the time to use on the brewery’s merch and food from the restaurant (both the food and merch were super expensive, but I liked them both so I was okay with in-house gift cards – as an underpaid, overworked employee I relied on this cards to feed me during 10+ hour shifts). We were also often forced to sell expired beer and told not to tell anyone about it, which is probably the worst thing they ever made us do. I was a valued employee, I was cross trained to work in pretty much every department and trained others as well, and I kept my mouth shut about the expired beer…
I just need to vent, because I was absolutely devastated when I heard this news today. I work for a government agency and we’ve been working from home successfully for the last two years due to the pandemic. Now that things are going back to normal, our union has negotiated a pilot program to allow certain sectors and departments to continue working from home full time or in a hybrid mode if the supervisors are okay with it. The arrangement has to be approved and renewed every three months. My boss has allowed our sector to remain working from home, however I’ve been forced to commute to the office everyday since March in order to train new employees. I’m STILL here in the office because every new employee we’ve hired has quit to take a better job within 1-2 weeks of starting the job. So I’ve been stuck here in…
Throw away account because my partner and I can't afford a litigation happy nuisance who will get theirs soon anyways. My partner and I were working in a take away restaraunt in a busy beach town, When we started there was an understanding that F(24f) would be promoted to cook as soon as staffing was found for front end, I (29m) started as a cook. Once busy season starts and the place is fully staffed, we both realize a clear gender divide, but shake it off as a coincidence (we later found out it was not). We just rolled with it because we could work opposite schedules so we could avoid childcare for our 2 kids and pay was enough to get by. However, the work environment was highly toxic, but only when the owner was present as he was the source of toxicity. Berating staff, throwing things, threatening to…
Today at work we got an amber alert on our phones it was a black Honda Civic. My boss comes up to me and goes hey do you have a black 2022 Honda Civic I go no (he knows I drive a blue car). He comes up to me laughing and shoving his phone in my face about the amber alert going you sure this isn’t you. It was a disgusting sad joke and it made feel like shit. I’ve put up with a lot of bud shitty jokes but today was just over the edge. Idk if I should report him to HR or not because I don’t want to lose my job. I’m the only person that reports into him. He did this where other people could hear. Maybe I can make an Anonymous note. Idk he gives me anxiety and stress not sure what to do. Maybe…
