I was a retail manager for a large liquor store chain. We had new locations opening and I was set to go to one. I had just transferred in from a smaller market and was told they had a ridiculous amount of experienced managers. The groups were formed on which managers were going where. My store was lacking to say the least. I was the most tenured associate by far. Including my recently hired store manager who said “I have every confidence you’ll train me well to do this job”. Noticing that I was going to be training her and this store was set for double the volume of my previous store I asked for a raise. I got a no with an asterisk of helping me develop to the next promotion, still a no. I requested for a transfer so I didn’t have to train this new manager and…

How about paying a living wage?
We must rise
One of THOSE days.
Sorry in advance if this doesn't belong here, never posted around here. Just felt the need. So. I work in a food product warehouse, preparing large deliveries on the night shift. We are continuously understaffed, in average we have about 2/3 of what would be needed for our daily workload. Everyone does overtime, almost every day since early April. I myself have recurring pains in everything below the knees, I've got problems sleeping because of the recent heat, every week takes a bit more, every week-end gives back a little less. I'm exhausted. Our usual supervisor is gone on vacation for two weeks. His direct superior is taking his place. First night he's here, he takes note of anyone punching in even a minute too late, and he's been spending two hours with his pad talking to everyone individually about “boosting productivity”. I may start looking elsewhere before those two…

UFCW 1059 Kroger Columbus
Using a throwaway because the Kroger Thought Police have been warning against negativity. There's been a lot of talk about the bonuses and the wage increases in the new UFCW 1059 contract, but there is something else that I find even more concerning. Under extenuating circumstances, a third party can be used to staff pickup departments. They offer examples of severe weather or extreme call offs. I fear that in the event of a strike, this clause will be used to hire temporary workers to staff pickup departments. This would greatly reduce the hardship of a strike on the company and severely weaken the bargaining position of an already weak union. What kind of union “fully recommends” a contract that allows scabs to keep the doors open during a strike? https://i.imgur.com/LZgnyP4.jpg
Crashed Company Car – Got Fired
Ok, it was my fault. I accepted the full responsibility and informed my manager. Sales engineer M27 2 weeks ago I used company car for my personal vacation. I informed my manager and he said it is okay. Then while on vacation the plans changed and I travelled another city without informing my manager. I crashed the car in the gravel road to the wall and left wheel damaged. I panicked and didnot write any forms about accident. Then I repaired the car by my own completely, and come back to work. I quickly informed my manager about accident. Then we sent car for mechanical investigation to official service. The changed parts are not original and I did not file any official documents about crash. Yesterday service reports were ready and he said I must fire you. You violated the trust and made unoffical repairs for company car without informing…
The reason I can’t /won’t change my job
Disclaimer: I don’t live in the USA. I have 2 BAs and 1 MA. I found a job in 2019 as a dog walker, dog, and cat sitter. In the country I live in my monthly wage for my job is the equivalent of 1,300 usd after tax. I work full time and have a flexible work environment. Making that amount of money I struggle with bills sometimes and my mother helps me out. I’ve started doing side jobs to compensate but sometimes it’s not enough. Now, here’s the kicker. I started looking for full time positions and the entry level salary before taxes is around 1,000-1,100 usd. BEFORE taxes. The pet care company I work for gives me bonuses at the end of each month depending on customer satisfaction (ranging from 50-100 usd) and I can schedule time off as needed as long as I give them at least…
