Unpopular Opinion: Freeloaders dominate this subreddit. Basically I’m writing final exams next week and I’ve got all my days covered except Friday, as no one is available that day. My manager said that if I can’t find a replacement, I have to work – except I can’t because I will literally be writing an exam during the time of my shift lol. And I definitely can’t change the date of my exam. It’s weird because they let someone with back pains off for weeks without replacement, resulting in us being more understaffed than we already are. I also told my manager two weeks in advance that I needed these days off, but he scheduled me anyway.

When you really think about it, decorating a cubicle or desk that you work at is about as stupid as putting tints on or painting a rental car. You don't own anything at the job you are at, except for the lunch you brought. Plus you end up with a lot of stuff to carry down to your car in the event you are fired. It's really a foolish practice that we should end soon. If it doesn't belong to you don't act like it does. Also, saying things like “my company”, “my team”, or “our business” when you aren't an owner is absolutely idiotic.

I am a student and I worked part-time at Tim Hortons (a famous restaurant chain in Canada) to support myself. Folks who are from Canada would know full well what the job entails (minimum wage, long hours and back-breaking work). Things were fine initially and after the new management took over there was a blatant disregard for everything starting from payment processing to safety. They didn't pay us on time and everytime we brought it up, they would cook some story up saying that the cheques got mixed up (for 4 weeks? really?). To hell with it, they won't even stock up on basics such as gloves for food handling (how are we to serve food without gloves?). We handle food from ovens and they didn't even provide us with proper mittens. I requested weekend shifts to focus on school work but the manager for some odd reason had it…

So I'm back at work now after my maternity leave . My usual day normally I clock in a little bit earlier then everyone else because I go ahead and get everything set up for the area where I work. Well today my supervisor tells me that I'm no longer allowed to clock in till 15 minutes before we're supposed to start, fine that doesn't mean I'm going to help set stuff up like I usually do. Along with her treating me like I don't exist and if she is near by she will only speak Spanish to another employee. She has only spoken English enough today to ask for her phone to be handed to her. TLDR: Been burned many times by previous jobs. So after being laid off, I tried the self-employed thing. Not working. Now I feel like a complete and total failure. I have experience with huge well-known clients and stuff so i figured I could at least find some sort of job to go back to, but only being contacted by scams.
