Long time lurker, just need to get this of my chest or i won't be able to sleep. I work in the netherlands for a bank that has it's roots with farmers, but through an agency. From the agency we can accept extra shifts, no problems here, everything in order. However, this massive bank, this unit of an organisation, forgot to plan this in their schedule. Not the first time this has happened. So now, insteas of 3 hours, i work 6. This means that i get a break. However, my manager now told me, no you dont have this break, only after 6.25 hours. This is bs for several reasons: 1)the law says so and 2)my coworker do get breaks with 6 hour shifts. Already looking for a new job, so thank god when i get to say goodbye

And then because you’re at the mercy of them for a paycheck you’re in between a rock and a hard place. I’m over it.
Advice on handling recruiters
I’ve been working in a full time position for about 6 months now, and let them know a month in advance that I would have to switch from a full-time to a part time position so that I can finish my degree. My co-workers are about half full-time, half part-time. I was told by my manager that it “wasn’t up to them” and they’d check for me. Well, apparently they can’t keep me on because financially it doesn’t make sense. Which is baffling because we all know it takes a ton of money to train a new person. I’d had great performance reviews, and have had essentially every coworker express multiple times that they’re sad to see me go, and I did good work. IN ADDITION, this left me with 3 weeks to find a job to support myself so I could actually get my degree, to the tune of…
Long story short, Bosses want me to train people with out increase in pay. I told them no. Now i'm “willfully quiting” because i refuse to sign a letter. I asked about my pto and my company showed me their specific policy where a two year employee gets paid out 0… Fucking 0 for all my hard work. Don't save your pto use it to live life.

My kid dunked all over me
“You may get PTO, but when I’m not at work, I don’t have to work.” We’re on vacation at Lake Champlain (my boss was fully supportive) but I’m a journalist and had to do an interview around my subject’s schedule. I was happy to do it, talking to interesting people is the best part of my job, but it took at least two days for me to stop thinking about all the work I’m not doing. Email is a scourge.
