can’t even share my disdain without being shut up

I can't even share my disdain with this system to the closest of my relatives without them thinking that I'm jumping off the deep end.. and this is way too common. people won't even hear anti-capitalist rhetoric anymore..not that they ever would. I should just focus on my work more. I though I would work so hard to achieve efficiency and be able to work less. Learning you'll put your bones to the stone, no matter how much you produce, unless you own those means.. should be infuriating and discouraging. it's more of a caste system here in the U.S. now than anything, little to no chance of ever leaving your stratified class.

Tired of low ballers

Sorry for the format,im on my phone and english is my second language! Im so tired of lying low ballers!! For context I live in orlando florida, ive applied to so many job listings on indeed, the worst place being subway, wanting to hire me for 8.00$ an hour and expect me to give the extra mile with making sandwiches, cleaning, coming in 20 minutes before work etc. Today I get contacted by taco bell after an interview,I explicitly tell them I can start on monday, the manager calls me screaming today saying that if I don't work in the next three days he won't hire me at all. In all seriousness what the hell is going on with these places,I have a couple of interviews lined up luckily but the job market is extremely unmotivating right now,how are you desperately hiring but won't pay the minimum wage atleast.(its 15.00$ here in florida)

rant about my local burlington

I applied to Burlington in south suburbs of Chicago IL when they posted a sign on the main road. It took a month to schedule a phone interview after I had applied. The manager I was talking to offer $12/hr for a sales floor associate position for FULL TIME. The manager I was talking to was going to be the one for our new store and was laughing the whole time, and put me on hold twice for some reason? I asked what the benefits were of full time, esp with it only at $12/hr and being expected to work when needed and on holidays. He just responded: yeah there were benefits and didn't explain further. He asked some simple interview Q's and I had brought up my attending college and he immediately switched to trying to get me off the phone and not offer any employment. I told him…

The Propaganda is coming fast now from FIFA and TV Networks and Google and Qatar and World Football. They want everyone to forget about our 7,000 brothers and sisters who died being exploited for their Labor for their three week World Cup party. Don’t Let Them!

Friends, I've been getting stories and notices sent to me about how wonderful Qatar is going to be in November and how amazing this three week World Cup party is going to be and I want to tell all these companies and marketers you know what? Go fuck yourself. I love soccer (football) as much as everyone but I just wanted to remind everyone that 7,000 young men and women in Qatar have died in horrible conditions all in the name of this one particular three week party. So before you get caught up in the propaganda, please remember those who gave their lives in this tragedy. I know this sub has an American slant but shouldn't we care for our brothers and sisters in Asia who died being exploited for their labor? Not everyone is familiar with the horrible events that have happened so I want to explain…

I’m quitting in three weeks. How should I tell them?

I’m leaving my stupid job in three weeks and no one knows yet. Should I give a two weeks notice or just tell them on my last day? Or you can recommend a way for me to go out in a blaze of glory. I hate this place and I’m changing careers so I won’t need their connections in the future.

Feeling discouraged in this job market

I've been following this sub for a while and I'm really glad to see people saying no to positions that take advantage of them and whatnot. I do, however, see a lot of posts saying “there are so many jobs that are better than that”, “there are so many wfh jobs, why take one that doesn't offer that?” etc. I've been searching for a job for about 6 months now. I have a disability that would make it much easier for me to manage if I could wfh but at this stage, I'm so desperate, I'm applying to anything as long as it doesn't require me to be on me feet for long periods of time. Nothing. Zip. Not one interview. I've networked on LinkedIn, I've gotten advice on my resume from half a dozen experts…. Just a vast wasteland and rising rising rising debt. Why is this so hard…

Negative correlation between financial success and empathy.

I am 38. I have noticed that, as my cohort ages and some attain financial security, their empathy seems to rapidly dwindle. People who used to volunteer with me when we were young now sneer at the notion of donating time and/or money to charities. Paradoxically the ones that have been less fortunate are more willing to join me. This is by definition anecdotal. I have read several thinkpieces about baby boomers “pulling up the ladder behind them”. I wonder if it is just baby boomers though. Friends that have houses detest the unhoused “ruining” downtown Portland. Friends with cars are annoyed at bicyclists or protestors for interrupting their commute. When they were renting and bicycling and poor it was the fancy house owning, car driving old people who were the bane of their existence. This isn't all of my social circle… but it describes a lot of them. Anyone…
