The title says it all.

Me and my coworkers have been working hard to get started on unionizing today It took us a month to get enough support to get submitted for our vote and it was announced to the shop & company today Work was definitely a little weird. One manager is super pissy about it. Basically ignored all of us. He normally is friendly and says bye to everyone before he leaves. He didn't say anything. The head manager was in his office all day presumably on the phone with corporate trying to get the busters arranged. Let's see how this goes.

It sure is. I need more money for childcare and to house/feed my family. You haven’t given it to me, so I found it elsewhere. Not sure if you've seen the inflation/cost of living lately, but it's no joke. I’ve been at my company for 5.5 years and if somebody else is gonna come in and pay me a lot more to do a similar job, I’m gonna take it. I’m not here because “we’re a family” or because “I LOVE health tech platforms and it’s always been my dream to work here.” Lol. Pay me what I'm worth.

The same generation that wants $100 an hour plus max benefits is the same generation that A) Always calls out for stupid bullshit mental health days, they don't feel like working or some other stupid BS reason. B)They show up to work stoned, hungover, or late (but somehow always have a coffee)

I don't think some of you realize participating in the corrupt system, and then telling people they are bad people for not voting blue or participating in voting is more proof the system is working and you're part of it. You can't say “fuck the system” or “burn it all down” and then go wait in line to give you a false sense of participation in the same government you claim to want to stop. Mass non compliance, complete disobedience of what they tell us to do, and how to do it, is the only catalysts for change this late into the late stage capatlist hellscape were trapped in. I'm not saying go on a rampant crime spree, just saying stop listening to absolutely everybody involved in politics on the TV. Ignore them, ignore their plans, ignore the pandering, ignore the fake garbage they spew all day. Don't comply.

Hi! I'm an adult ESL teacher (all levels, from beginner to advanced) and I'm looking for texts or videos that touch on topics like unionization, workplace exploitation, or any of the things discussed here. I find it really hard to find articles and the like that are suitable even for advanced ESL student. Any suggestions? Any other colleagues in the field of ESL here?

Sorry in advance if this isn't appropriate here, I just am so frustrated. ​ I work in an office and for the last year I had been told I'd be promoted to office manager when the current one stepped down. ( there's a lot to this, I don't want to get too far into details just in case) I didn't really want it but I do care about the practice and have spent the last several years being the one who steps up and take things on, including working overtime and doing things outside of my job duties. I’ve been having a difficult time finding a work after my 3 month temp job didn’t work out. Unemployment in my state is taking 14 weeks to investigate claims currently and I blew through the little saving I had. I apply to 10 jobs per day, but as we all know employers are taking their sweet time responding. I am very lucky to have parents that can help me out whilst I job search. Several times now, my mother as urged me to go to the job center with my resume and see what they have to offer. She also stating perhaps I should apply for vocational rehab to learn more skills so I’m desirable candidate. This is a woman who hasn’t worked since mid 80’s. Today she threatened to stop supporting me if I didn’t go to the job center and see if they have work. Mind you I…
