I’ve been on the side of low productivity lately due to a couple of things. One of my parents needed an emergency open heart surgery, and soon after, our twin girl pregnancy was suddenly lost and both of our daughters died in my wife’s arms. It’s been a tough time. Over the last 6 weeks. Today my company laid me off because fuck me. They don’t have the guts to tell me it’s because I’ve been off for a week or two to grieve. Apparently the economy did this. Lol. MFs. I’m in no position to interview. My mental health is prime on postpartum depression. My wife has depression and Covid. We’ll need to figure this out. Thankfully my company said it has a good mission and they need to focus on it so they think I should be good. Hahahahha :’(
Month: July 2022
The title says most of it. I went on leave but let my mom use my work laptop for something when hers broke down and let slip to a colleague in passing conversation. She reported me and now I’m having a hearing for giving my log in details to a third party. I am guilty of this and they can easily check history so I am expecting to get fired as in their file this classifies as immediate cause of dismissal. Now should I just quit? I don’t like this job anyway I was going to quit next month due to lack of progression and for my own mental health but could’ve really used the salary. (I’m in UK and the company doesn’t offer u employment so unfortunately don’t say get fired and collect unemployment)
medical leave
work won’t let me take a few days off in probationary, been planning this camping trip/anniversary/birthday weekend for a while. can i call out on medical? no questions asked? i have a backup if they do ask questions but what are my rights
Need suggestions!!!
Hey everyone! So recently at my company many people are being underpaid and overworked. Yes I know it's a cliche at this point but nevertheless we have organized with other members of this company and have decided to strike if our demands are not met. We have cameras in our place of work and need some ideas of what to put on the signs. We need better pay, better working conditions, and a union. Our current pay is 13.50 and with the cost of everything it's not working for anyone. They have given bonuses of 100 dollars but obviously that's nothing. People have kids, homes, and basic human needs. I don't want to get into specifics about the company but the turnover rate is very high and its in the behavioral health field. Thank you for reading and hope to hear from you all soon! Arizona- no union – 7/26/22…
And do you regret it if you started working too early or too late?
First of all, let me preface my opinion by saying that, objectively, things have not been normal for at least 5-8 years now. We have seen an unbelievable rise in extremism, a huge cultural shift towards tribalism and divides within western societies at large at an unprecedented scale. I (and, as far as my research goes, many experts) strongly believe that social media has played a large role in the huge cultural and societal changes we have been experiencing over the last decade or so. Once you begin to think about how people used to interact and how everyday life was structured not long ago, the world we live in today seems like a grotesque distortion of what humans are actually like. This is because it is. Of course, the fact that our consumption of social media changes our behavior is not new to anyone, this is widely known, so…
Just came back from an interview where they said they require 2 weeks notice or you will be fined and money will be taken from your paycheck. A lady who was interviewing me said she has seen people lose thousands because they didn't want to work a few more shifts before leaving. Is this legal in an at-will state? I doubt they would give me 2 weeks notice before firing me so what the hell?
