Month: July 2022
Boss told me I am no longer allowed to work overtime due to being a “higher paid employee”, yet they allow fellow coworkers to work as much OT as they want, even tho they make slightly less than I do. Our company is open 6 days a week and we run a short crew on the weekend. I’ve been covering that shift once a month for the last 10+ years without issue, and out of the blue I get told I can’t work that shift due to my hourly rate. The company does not have a policy that prohibits OT due to pay rates, and there have not been any issues with performance or disciplinary problems. (One could argue that the weekends I run are the most efficient/productive). I will be kind of nice not having to work the weekend, it will free my time up to spend with the…
Wow, you don’t say! What a shocker.
Took bereavement leave. When I got back, they had extra shirts from some product unveiling, and asked me what size I wanted since I was gone. Boss asked me to show proof I went to a funeral, too. They gave me an XL, and said that's all they have, and if I wanted one in my size, I should have come to work that day. I told him I'll ask my grandmother to die at a more convenient time for me next time. He asked me why I'm always so negative, lol.

It’s a trap!
So my dad works at a call center for a pretty big company I won’t name for now, and his boss is very much against wfh despite him proving that he is 100% capable of doing everything he needs to do in office and more while at home. They claim to have been accommodating by “allowing” him to wfh one day a week. Recently he’s developed some severe nosebleed issues among other already existing problems that can last for hours on end, and has been fighting for more wfh to help his health while his boss threatens to take his one day away. It’s bad enough where he has had to come home early due to it, and his boss still won’t budge. Is there any advice that I can let my dad know about that might help his situation/help him fight his boss? This is in the US btw.
At 16 years old(little after the pandemic) i was in desperate need for a job. I tried indeed, ziprecruiter, etc. I resorted to walking up and down business sections in my town for 6 hours in the blistering heat to find a job. I settled on chipotle, was able to do an online application after asking how to apply, and a few days later got an interview. I came in and the manager made me sit and wait for this interview for 2 hours. Not once did she come out of her office while the cashier kept reassuring me she’d come out eventually. At this point i began to cry because for the past month i’d been trying so hard to find a job with absolutely no luck and now a manager at chipotle was wasting my time. She gave me the job out of pity i’m assuming because i…
