I got a job just a couple of months ago where my friend is the manager. Immediately, I was asked to do work off the clock at the start and end of each shift. Initially, I went along and did it, but realized it was illegal for them to even ask that of me and stopped. So far as I can tell, it’s just the expectation of everyone in this particular position. Well, I kept coming in early and simply clocked in for the work that I did. My coworkers, obviously, just worked until the time they are “supposed” to clock in. Just now though they’ve adjusted our schedule times (probably due to me) because the app they have us using only allows us to clock in within certain timeframes. The schedule now is set up to start a bit later to restrict when we’re physically able to clock in.…
