Bad union?

My SIL is treated like crap at her (male dominated) job (in a mine). Her union rep is useless. Nearly impossible to get ahold of, doesn’t follow up with anything or contact her with issues being resolved or not. Is there anything she can do? Can she complain to someone higher in the union? Is there a union oversight committee or anything? She has seniority (been there 8 years) but she’s always given the worst hours while new hires get the hours they ask for, she’s passed over time and again for advancement, she got Covid and got in trouble for missing work even though she’s only missed like 3 weeks in 8 years and that was to give birth. She’s never late, never takes vacations, is the only one not to miss a day during the “everyone works everyday for a month” yearly catch-up. She does a job that…

Onboarding and the digital revolution

Just filling out my I-9 and some onboarding paperwork. I miss when it was done in person and you would get paid for it. Now it is all on your own time and unpaid.

Fair pay

Been with a company almost 10 years. New hire makes 2 more dollars an hour than i do. I make at least 50 percent more in sales than him per period. He has no kids no wife unlike me with 2 kids, putting my wife through school, ect.We are expected to get raises soon. How do i go about approaching my managers and discussing this pay with them? One guy has been here 5 more years than me and i make just as much sales as he does and he makes 7 dollars more than indo an hour. He has the biggest account in the company and if he didn't have that account id have him by at least $20,0000 more in sales per period. He also doesn't have a wife and his kids are grown and done moved out. I have a whole city to myself while everyone else…

If I can’t put the reason for leaving was management on an application, what do I put?

At one of my jobs our application had a part asking about previous jobs and there was a “reason for leaving?” section. I watched my boss go over an application one time and when he saw someone put “management” there he threw it away. I'm not sure what I should put there because both jobs I've had I left because of management. I mean, why would I leave a job if it's managed well?

Thinking of resigning.

I am 32 years old have been working in sales for 3 years. Not sure if I should resign and go back to my former job of being an office clerk somewhere in some small firm. Anyway, during this time, we hired about 10 – 12 sales representatives (like me), almost all of whom struggled to achieve KPI. I, along with another team member, were the only ones able to hit our KPIs consistently. Over the course of my role, my manager became increasingly hostile and began to engage in what can only be described as a pattern of bullying and harassment. Some of the key examples include calling me out on taking longer break times than usual (when I probably took the least break times compared to any other sales representative), texting me during my break times, telling me to take out the bin when she…

Leaving job – Off Sick

Hi Everyone, I was just looking for some advice, I am currently off work due to stress at work and the doctor has advised that i take a month off. Long story short, i have been experiencing some workplace mobbing and i was originally mislead by the role. There have been complaints about me being quiet but i am really friendly and always say hello and bye to my co workers. There is 3 of us in the office and when i first started i was more or less plonked down and left without the training needed to do my job, ever since then i have really struggled as it is a new industry to me but my co workers have not been very supportive. One in particular likes to make you feel stupid and makes snarky comments Infront of another co worker to look big. I have also been…

Equitable wage structure?

Don’t understand why the customer always has to supplement the wages of restaurants/service businesses. Just pay them with the right wage structure since the beginning

is this wage discrimination?

Some background, I used to work for this company for about 4 years and left on good terms during covid due to mental health reasons. When I left I was making $14.72/hr with full benefits. I ended up coming back to the company after a year or so of working on myself and because the flexibility of the hours works well with returning to school and finishing off my degree. When I came back, they told me that my pay would be $14.50 an hour with no benefits and that I'd be starting off as a temp and on a 'fast track' to be hired back as a full employee with benefits. After a few days, I saw on the temp agency website that anyone hired for this position would be paid $17/hr without benefits. I brought it up to my manager who told me this happened because allegedly full…

Is this all there is?!

I just need to vent for a second. Is this seriously all there is to life? I feel like I’m doing the same thing every day and then when it’s the weekend I’m catching up on things I didn’t have time to do during the week BECAUSE of work or I’m recovering from work! I feel like I’m just wasting away. There are so many things I want to do in life but I don’t want to do them when I’m 70 with a body that is sick and doesn’t work! There has got to be more to life than giving all my time to people who don’t care about me and then going home and having only a couple hours to myself! Everyone I talk to about this looks at me like I’m absolutely insane. It’s like I’m the crazy one for wanting to actually live rather than work…

What does it mean when your employer keeps asking for your goals?

I'm in a new position in a new field. I could be considered underutilized but I'm completely fine with it. Pay is great and the atmosphere is relaxed. During my check in calls I've been asked what my goals are and I wasn't sure how to answer that. What is the strategy behind that question? I've mentioned I've left a position before because of boredom but I was vocal that I would make sure to mention it before I end up leaving this current position so I don't know if they're worried about that.
