My government is destroying my country and is corrupt af. The taxes are absolutely crazy and your “paycheck” is literally the same if you work like 30 hours a week or you don't work at all. A liter of gasoline is 2.7 euros and the cheapest and smallest apartments are 500€ per month. If I made 3000€ a month and didn't have to pay tax I would be super happy but 50% is tax and other non sense bullshit. I know you are gonna say oohh dont you want free healthcare are education but we could have that with way less taxes. The money is going to the government which it uses to create more “jobs” for their friends and raising their own pay. There are way too much “government officials” and way too much government over all controlling you and making sure you dont get rich and we are…
link 1, some arguments from both sides link 2, arguments mainly favouring the US Now sadly I can't translate all the comments, but Google Translate offers a good translation nowdays. Lemme just copy and paste some of the most upvoted views by people favoring the US WARNING: VERY LONG, SO IF YOU WANT JUST SKIP THIS AND READ THE ORIGINAL COMMENTS! ” Your title is misleading, if you ask if European welfare is better than Aramco, it must be. But the welfare of the United States is worse than that of Europe, which does not mean that the United States is a depression. Behind the high welfare you see are high taxes and robberyrichThe middle class helps the poor. As a result, the development of high-tech industries in Europe lacks vitality, and those who want to make money run to the United States. Talking about the crime rate is inseparable…
I have a new boss that just started last week. He instantly pulled me into the office to tell me that I can no longer work 1pm – 11 pm because the schedule states that I am to work from 3pm – 1am. When I tried to explain I work the schedule that I do because it works better for my work/life balance, he cut me off saying it's an issue because I may accrue overtime if someone calls out. While I understand that, it's literally never been an issue because I can come in later or leave earlier. To add insult to injury, he later exclaimed how excited he was to finally work a schedule to be able to see his family. How do I advocate for myself and why I should continue to work a schedule that was never a problem before?
This truly is the worst timeline
I was camping in the interior of BC Canada for the long weekend and the heatwave has been brutal. Even in the shade, with the wind, and drinking lots of water, it's been almost unbearable. Everywhere in the town is sold out of ice and milkshakes, smoothies, and other cold drinks are mostly sold out too. The other day my family was unsuccessfully hunting for ice again, and wanted to get smoothies from McDonalds before heading back to the campsite. Confusingly McDonalds was closed, before noon. Across the street at another fast food place the employees there said a McDonalds employee died in the restaurant that morning. Small town so everyone has been talking about it, and I wasn't able to verify any details, but it was likely a young person working at the grill. There may not be a heatwave in your country right now, but here's a good…
The day I learned to value my labor.
Seeing some people tell horror stories about how they’ve gone “above and beyond” made me think about my own story about learning that managers, especially in large corporations, don’t really care about workers, they only care about productivity. This story is from a few years back. I had been laid off from a major office supply chain after the dot com crash in 2001. After a few years as a concert & event stage hand, I went back to my old store which had different management and employees. I was hired as a graphic designer/desktop publisher in document services and the department manager told me that he rewarded employees who proved their worth. In fact he really emphasized proving my worth, so I set out to do that. The last desktop publisher had left everything in disarray. No real filing system to speak of and he had walked with half…
