They all have the same shitty work ethic and treat everyone below them like garbage. They don't seem to have any basic skill of managing a team and providing coverage for their department – instead demanding that they work when they are sick and putting the responsibility on the employees to find coverage instead of managing it themselves. I just want to know why these are the people that get chosen to be managers. They do more harm to the business by making poor decisions and making everyone unhappy which leads to resignations. Do they not realise how shitty they are? Or do they just don't care?

i’ve been out of a job for a couple months. i just graduated high school. worked 3 years at a toxic toxic restaurant. quit for my mental health. im going into college. everybody in my family is disappointed in me for not working- but i’ve applied everywhere. i’ve applied to every fast food place. they say “we don’t see your application. happens a lot online. we dont do paper applications though just fill out another one.” i cant work at a restaurant or a walmart. i need very little hours. i cant work 40hrs a week. im done being used. i have my own shit to deal with. that’s probably why i haven’t been hired. i need money. i would kill for an online job but they’re ALL scams. not a single decent remote job. i think its a fucking hoax. im tired of being rung out by employers. but…
This American Life: Mystery Shopper
I was on This American Life in 2004 when I was mystery shopping. It is a horrible way to make $7 for an afternoon's work. Spend 4-6 hours getting to store, do your interaction, come home, answer 100 questions (with narrative), ruin your day, and wait 90 days to get paid. Realize there is another thread about mystery shopping, felt this warranted it's own. If I am wrong, I am sorry. Mystery Shoppers – This American Life
Civil Suit Case No. 22CV014917 was filed one week ago, on Monday July 25, at the Superior Court of California, County of Alameda. Among the filings is an application for a temporary restraining order, a complaint for injunctive relief or nuisance, and five affidavits by Port officials and a private investigator. The case is aimed at securing a temporary restraining order, followed by a preliminary injunction for the purpose of obtaining a court order to deem the protests illegal. The City of Oakland is pursuing this route because a preliminary injunction would get decided immediately, allowing the City to quickly obtain a court order. Once the protests are declared illegal, the City has the jurisdiction to trample the First Amendment rights of the protesters who could be found in “contempt of court,” giving the green light to police to carry out mass arrests. Not only would their profession be “illegal”…
I work for a pretty well-known nonprofit organization in my area. I'm a counselor in the behavioral health department. The management in this place is literally just like the Mean Girls. Let me introduce the characters in this tale: Me – Me Sharon – my manager, Cady Heron Christin – another manager, Karen Smith Darlene – another manager, Gretchen Wieners Mary – the managers' manager, Regina George So, we keep hard charts because our system is archaic and no one wants to take the time or hire someone to switch to complete online documentation. My manager, Sharon, is the one who is in charge of ensuring that those files are secured in the locked fireproof cabinet when not immediately in use. However, this cabinet has never been intentionally locked since I began working there in January of this year. A file went missing in mid-May and I discovered it was…
Open for discussion: I am no economist, or financier, or anything like that. But it seems only fair to me that employee be paid not in a flat hourly rate, but as a flat percentage of the net quarterly profit of that company, with a variable average that updates each quarter that the employee has a job. For example, my company made 2.3 billion dollars in profit last quarter. Assume that all four quarters were the same. Also assume we weren't paid a wage in addition to the percentage, so 40k employees times ~$80k makes a total of $22bn for a year. Divided by those same 40k employees to find the profit per individual employee. Which is $550,000. If I got 15% of that, I'd make $82500 which is roughly my annual income. The company pockets the other 85% HOWEVER If Inflation occurs (which it is) and the company makes…
Is anyone else tired if the rat race?
I have been a apart of the FIRE movement for the past 7 years and have reached the top of my job. Make 160kpa not much room left to move up besides being the CEO/CFO etc. But after making all this money and reaching senior role im not seeing the point of working this hard for the rest of my life. I understand now people get paid more to deal with more problems but its absolutely sufferable low work-life balance life style where you basically work all day. Yeah i have all this money now but im now picturing myself do this for the rest of my life and cringe. I just don't know how people commit to these senior roles high paying roles for so long.
Racist employees at my new job
I started working part-time at a city gym this past weekend. While I was in training, this woman comes up to the desk and she seems really stressed, she says that she thinks her grandma is working out and she needs to go to work but her grandma has her car keys. the manager let's her into the gym to find her grandma. we see her kinda wandering around and she eventually leaves, saying she can't find her grandma. just as she leaves, someone runs up to the desk saying her bag was stolen. immediately they both start accusing the woman looking for her grandma. Now, there's a good chance it was her since she was the only one that didn't sign in that morning, but they both immediately start saying it was her because she was black and there were no other black people in the gym. The manager…
