Raising the inter-bank overnight loan rate seems like a really weird way to combat rising inflation. Raising that rate reduces bank profits, and so the banks try to recoup their losses by raising rates on products mostly used by the middle and lower classes–mortgages, car loans, personal loans, etc. This reduces 'disposable' income, which leads to reduced spending, reduced corporate profit, and finally in job markets taking a hit. Eventually, prices stagnate, or maybe even decrease a little (LOL), but the middle class is taking all the pain. Targeting the middle class because they have 'too much money' and are 'causing' prices to rise is stupid. Middle class wages stagnated for decades, and now that they're finally catching up, they're blamed for inflation and targeted for destruction? Why not target corporate greed? I've loved my job for years and was promoted to a management role with a direct peer. The direct peer left the role in 2020, and instead of hiring to fill their role, they had me take it all on. Sure, I'm new, I can handle it. A few months pass and I'm whooped. I ask to backfill as I cannot keep up. I get praise for what I'm doing and the yearly 5% raise… A couple months pass and I'm in the same boat. I did the math, and the mandatory 30 minutes amounts to $2,700 lost wages. Paired with 30 minutes of life you can’t get back. We either need need to get paid for those 30 minutes, or there needs to be a 30 minutes paid break during those 8 hours.

I would like to start a discussion on the possibility of a strike on ALL student loan payments until actual reform is made to this predatory and unbalanced industry. Strikes have always been one of the best ways for regular people to collectively fight injustice. Let’s stop waiting on politicians and cancel these ourselves. Why would they agree to talk to us? Well, the thing is, we need to stop asking. I like my job, what I do, and for the most part even the company I work for, but getting any tech help is basically like calling customer service. Except it's the for equipment the company has given us to do the job. When I'm in the office, and I have a tech issue that involves physical equipment, I have the equivalent of a chat line staffed by bots that google things for you. Sometimes they don't even google the right thing. I've even had IT people just tell me they couldn't help if the issue is something you really need to be in person for, like troubleshooting the printer. They also don't stock key equipment like replacement laptops, extra chargers, etc. at the office, so if you are in person and have a pressing hardware issue you are just as SOL as if you were at home.
