Like the title says every shift I’ve worked since our 1 other employee working quit (I understand why now) has been from open to close which is 9:45a-9:15p while coming in at 9 on bank run days. Now with a 12 hour you’re scheduled 1 hour unpaid for lunch but the way they want you to structure your breaks is that you can close the store for no more than 30 minutes and must open it back up and if any guests come in during your last 30 you should “pause” your lunch to assist them and then can then finish off whatever time you had remaining once they leave. There’s something that rubs me entirely the wrong way that they make me sit in a building for half of my literal entire day but only 30 minutes of that time can be for just me personally. I can go…
Month: November 2022
Basics: Got hired at this fast food franchise gig freshly off bond and officially on probation. What I had going for me was that my inexperienced manager asked zero questions, though I came clean later about probation m, she was understanding. I had a hard time balancing life with the stress of it all, plus working 6 to 7 days a week for about a month in a half for this company due our old DM wanting less employees on board. Training, food safety standards, and customer satisfaction were/are HORRIBLE. I settled for this job, and there are no one to blame for my call outs -legal or otherwise, than myself. I get that. Shift leader thrown into management with no backbone so therefore did not communicate about things that mattered or really donjer job except make sure our times were good so the owner could get his money and…
I think this can go here
I only want to work easy jobs.
I am currently working as a security guard at a quiet post. My job duties are to patrol the area every 2 hours and open up the front gate to let the workers in. The rest of the time I use my phone or play on my Steam Deck to pass the time. My biggest fear is quitting my job and then suddenly getting a job where you are constantly busy or on your feet the whole day. My current career goal is to get a remote job. All over Reddit I hear how people who work remote only do about a few hours of work and then play video games, consume media, or do whatever the rest of the time. So I am trying to get a remote job like that. But I am also looking for other jobs that allow me to be lazy or barely do any…
https://www.independent.co.uk/tech/google-layoffs-poor-performing-employees-b2231056.html There's no reason to do that, apart from trying to prevent any solidarity actions by their fellow employees. Of course, it's going to make it much harder for them to find another job, but who gives a shit, they are just employees.. This is a very shitty move from Google.
TW: suicide Long time lurker, first time posting, on mobile, etc. I work in a notoriously demanding and high stress industry. I’ve been at this job for about 8 months (after switching from a different notoriously demanding industry), and I’ve already received a promotion of sorts; the kind that comes with more work and more responsibility, but for the same pay. I’ve worked a lot of jobs where I moved up the ladder in less than a year. I perform well under pressure and consistently exceed expectations. Sometimes I even enjoy challenges, but this current situation is fucking in.hu.mane! It’s the same old story of inept and checked-out leadership, colleagues who’re absolutely useless, and being chronically short staffed. Not to mention the lousy af pay or the social-life-killing nights and weekends shift. Things are just as bad at our local competitors, and like I said, it’s an industry known for…
