I broke my collar bone but my boss expects me to work normal hours

I broke my collar bone 3 weeks ago (outside of work incident). I was out on paid medical leave for a week. Because it’s an office job I was told I should work remotely until the New Year (we’re hybrid usually). However, I wanted to go back to the office earlier because my role is sales (outbound and inbound) making calls in my bedroom alone can be be demotivating. It’s so much easier when there’s a team right next to me doing the same. Last Thursday I went in 90mins late so I could avoid rush hour on London public transport after clearing it with my manager. However, when I started packing up at 3:30pm my manager asked me what I was doing and said if I got in late, I had to make it up on the other end. I still left early that day but this morning I…

Why are they so mad I resigned?

I've been working at a drive thru cafe for a few months. It's been nothing more than a 15-20 hour a week gig to pay the bills while I study. The pay is woeful and the conditions are a joke. For example, the AC broke (I live in a tropical climate) and it's easily 50 degrees C in the shop. We're expected to transport the rubbish in our own car. It's exactly the kind of job that people would leave pretty frequently because there are a million similar but better jobs out there. Last week, I was unexpectedly offered a student support job at my university. It's essentially a 70% pay rise with better conditions and hours so I won't have to work so much and have my study schedule interrupted. As soon as I found out, I gave 2 weeks notice at the cafe and explained that the new…

Paid less than my co workers at 14

I’m 19 now and just remembered this. I worked at Chick-fil-A and when I was hired with this 27 year old girl and some other adult guy we were told not to discuss pay. Well eventually we did anyway and I found out that while I was being paid 8.50$, they were being paid 11.50$. We were doing the same work so I think it’s fucked up I got paid less cause I was younger

Work was literally sending me to an early grave. I quit 5 months ago and it was the best thing I have done for myself.

I’m 28 and I have Autism, ADHD and OCD. I’m extremely switched on for things I’m interested in and I worked in a State Hospital (Australia) in the Operating Theatres as a technician responsible for instruments and supply coordination. I found the job absolutely fascinating to the very last day. Being a state run hospital in a country with universal healthcare, we are chronically underfunded and understaffed and that hospital is the only trauma equipped hospital in the state and the only public hospital within 200km, so it is at capacity 100% of the time. My employer knew about my Autism, but I’m semi-verbal and talk off a script in all my verbal conversations and I cannot ask for help in a wide array of situations I deal deal with in my daily life. My health and mental health has always been neglected and my anxiety keeps me from seeing…

Every day that passes, I consider going to Germany more and more.

Just a rant. I’m a 21 yr old living with my parents and I’m currently at a crossroads in regard to my life path. I was gonna study psychology and work as a therapist for other gay guys here in the states but I cut my studies short when I realized what I was up against. The debt I’ll amass from college will suck me in. I’m not saying college is easier in Germany but it seems like everyone I know that studies at our state college is stressed, broke, and realized they won’t use their degree too late. Everyone here lives on the edge. One health complication and you’re out. It will drain you of all your funds and the debt will kill you. And my conservative parents don’t see the issue. It’s so troubling trying to figure out how I could go about this because of all the…

I’m quitting my minimum wage food job. Retail in my area is paying higher, I don’t have a degree to get me anything higher than minimum wage. Can people tell me their experience?

I’ve worked three food jobs in the past couple years to get my through high school and part of college. I’m done. I’m so fucking sick of food. I wash dishes, I make the food, I serve the food, I wring up the food, I restock the ingredients, I’m forced to remake crappy food if the color looks wrong, I have to clean up all the spills, I get no benefits from it, and I always come home smelling like whatever I made that day. I don’t want to serve food, I don’t want to make food, I don’t want to clean it up. Leaving strictly retail. I’ve already got tons of experience getting screamed at by customers I know to expect that. But what kind of work would I be doing? I’m assuming mostly register, folding clothes, restocking things. Anything else I’m missing? Can people give me some of…

It is bullshit expectations to lift up to a certain weight.

I get that it is important to be able to lift up to a certain weight to a certain height. I was told to lift up to 23kg in weight up to my shoulders. I struggled, I don't do weight lifting or anything. But I did it multiple times, reaching my chin and each and every time we not good enough. On the report it says I could only lift up to about 21.75kg, and there is something about technique which might limit me from reaching the 23kg up to my shoulder. I am skinny. No muscle because I don't want muscle. I can do every part of the fitness exam EXCEPT lift 23kg. I genuinely hope that I get a cal back about this.
