I worked at a nonprofit for six months between 2021 & 2022. This was my first full time job after college, and I’ve also been navigating inpatient & outpatient health treatment for a chronic illness that severely affects my mental health. Long story short, I applied for a part-time (25hour/week) customer service position. But, between my interview & my start date two weeks later, their marketing manager quit. I was offered full-time pay, so I took it since they were a person down. Side note: I went to school for journalism— and specifically informed them my training is not in paid media— but I ended up ‘helping’ with their content while they either replaced that position or hired an outside agency. I work for a corporate Italian restaurant as a line cook. (It’s probably the first one that came to mind.) I’ve been with them for 3 years, and have moved around a bit and this is my third store now. They are by far the worst store I have worked in. What happened tonight is just one explanation of why. I was scheduled to work Saturday (today) morning and Sunday morning. A coworker had something to come up after the schedule came out, and asked me if I could cover him. I told him Idk, because I work Sunday morning. Another coworker overheard us, and said he would take my Sunday morning shift. Great! We even got it cleared by the managers. So now I just work open to close on Saturday and Sunday off. I just had to get your attention. Why is it that everyone complains about the above, wants to close the borders and prosecute anyone here illegally because “those people are stealing are jobs”? No Chad and Karen, they aren’t. They’re working the jobs you can’t even see exist, from your high horse, and for shit pay might I add. Yet no one gets mad and stops supporting the companies that close up shop and ship jobs overseas? I never understood the hypocrisy in this.

Hi I don't know if this is allowed here or not but my sibling and I got caught today stealing food. I'm on welfare and she's in school right now and I just got my welfare cheque and we haven't been able to get groceries in over a week and a half so we went to Walmart and were caught and I feel so guilty and ashamed of myself for stealing food. We weren't charged or banned thankfully but it was so embarrassing and I really hate myself for stealing. Does anybody have nice words? Thank you for reading this

I’m thinking about leaving my current job that I’ve been at for about 3 months now. Do I have to/should I put it on my resume? I really don’t care to put it on there. Is a 3 month gap a big deal?

I work for Publix (a grocery chain in the south). I moved from GA to FL a week and half ago and they transferred my position. When I started I was told I wasn’t getting any hours because they were “staffed”. So I was okay with it and instead I’m looking for a new job. I look at my schedule and I got 2 days of work this week. Pathetic. My last Publix I was getting 5 days, full time. Well I wake up today this Saturday morning at 11am and see a missed call at 7:05am asking if I want to work this morning. I called back and said I just saw the missed call… welp they got someone else to cover it and the shift ended at 1pm anyway. So I go to my siblings Airbnb tonight to their pool and have some drinks and pizza. They’re leaving…
