Im not sure what exactly triggered this response but I remember one day things just got so hard I ran to the back crying. I was only 18 years old. I remember feeling this sense of shame until the workers told me how on the daily there’s people running to the back crying. At 18, I didn’t understand how this was a symptom of a much larger issue. Working there was stressful. While fast food jobs are generally stressful, there comes a point where the environment gets to be unhealthy. Unfortunately, I was in that environment due to short staffing issues. One of the shift managers wasn’t even great either and could be toxic. I’m not sure what happened to her but I hope she changed. I looked down on this shift manager but now I realize how she was going through similar as me but with more responsibility. I…

Thrown under the bus and exploited
I just feel like apart from seeing a therapist, I could really use another outlet where I can vent out my frustrations. Pls pardon any grammatical blunders as english really isn't my native language. To rewind a little bit, i started this job during the peak of holiday season last year. Didn't get training at all. Sup just made me shadow other employees without even explaining to me what each aspect of the system that were using does. Took about a month for them to grant me access to the system and by this time, sup was going on a month long vacay. There was no assistant sup who could help me get acquainted with the system but no big deal, by this time I've already learned enough just by observing. Sup went on with her vacay and management left me in charge of this particular program/service and mind you,…

I just do my job sir
So, I work at a local Italian restaurant. I’m also a comic (unfortunately) so I mostly tweet about being single, weed, my shows and local lefty stuff. I had a meeting with HR recently about a workplace bully (super unproductive meeting, are we shocked?) and at the end this creepy HR guy, who gets off on saying “best practices” a bunch, says “I was shown a screenshot of a tweet of yours” and his whole demeanor changed. In the tweet I was asking ROC about the legality of my boss taking out 2.5% of all my tips to cover CC processing fees before tax. It was something I wanted to double check, and also shed light on. About half the restaurants in my city do this practice and I think it sucks, and customers definitely don’t know about it so I want to spread the word. But what sucks the…
I really need some advice on this
I work at a massive company, one of the biggest worldwide and I get paid a good salary, enough to meet my needs and to have a little bit to spare, nothing too fancy but a good salary that I'm satisfied with, the company itself is very good and they have a lot of employee benefits. With that said my department is becoming very toxic ever since a new department head was assigned, and a few managers were swapped around, for example I get called for a meeting with a single email stating “you have a meeting at 3PM to discuss some of your recent work that wasn't up to par to the standards we require”, I try my best for figure out what happened or what are they referring to but I don't get anywhere and the meeting is cancelled, and a lot of incidents meeting that pattern, whenever…
Workers of the world…
Stop texting your bosses. Seriously. I see far too many posts here that could’ve solved by never starting and/or not continuing to talk to managers over text. Just don’t do it. If this is some weird breaking point for the job then you absolutely do not want that job, trust me.
