Retail is a curse!
Get out! Get out as fast as you can. This industry wants your life. It destroys your humanity. I have watched this happen to numerous managers in the industry. I’m working on my exit plan. It’s been frustrating. I’m trying to get into Field Service for hardware or internet to dip my toes in tech. However, the waiting on one job, while denials for others grace my inbox is aggravating. The worst part these are real easy jobs yet the competition for them is so bad that someone with years of experience always comes along and snatches them up. Meanwhile I’m stuck barely making ends in a job I hate. Fun times! I’m pretty sure it’s the retail demon trying to keep me trapped. Retail is poison! Don’t let your kids start it!
So I relocated to go to work for a company. Signed a one yr lease, then they wanted me to relocate again very shortly after, which would require an approx $10,000 to get out of lease, pay new lease and moving expenses. Told them that was not an option for me, so they fronted funds to break the lease. (I paid everything else.) Now, they are charging me back every paycheck for the $$ they fronted for the move, plus taxes.
It’s a big group, and you’re not in it
I'm an adult working in the food service industry. The culture we have of showing up to work while sick is unacceptable. I slept for 2 hours tonight + stomach bug. How can anyone expect me to provide good service in this state? Why is it so impossible to consider that accidents happen, illnesses happen, life happens, etc. This is nationwide. I feel like it's extremely unethical. Bonus: any job where you have to ask to use the bathroom / aren't allowed to have water / legally required to have a break and that isn't fulfilled (restaurant industry!)
Bezos vs minimum wage
If most of the billionaires employing millions of people want to raise the minimum wage, and the millions of people want an increased minimum wage, why doesn't it happen?
