Last week, a known and liked customer came into our store and dropped a box of donuts off at the front desk for the workers. Great guy! Im up front to handle some paperwork when I get offered a donut, which of course I said yes to, having established that I almost never turn down free food. While we're getting through my paperwork, the store's head mamager arrives. The front of house manager offers them a donut, mentioning who they were from. The head manager looks thoughtful, says 'hmm', then grabs the box and walks off. At first we laughed, like 'oh hes gonna pretend to take it.' So I worked in this job for a little over 6 years, it was just the boss and I. In the last few years they'd had some home life trouble which lead to me doing 80-90% of the work and basically running the entire business minus a few phone calls. I was underpaid compared to others in my field, doing more work, longer hours I was never paid for etc. So eventually I decided I was leaving and I finished up at the end of December 2022. In Feb 2022 I had 8 weeks of holidays owing (which still seemed low but I didn't get pay slips so didn't keep track), by December when I left I was paid out only 2 weeks holidays and my final payslip matched. I had had less than 2 weeks off the entire year (can't have time off when the boss doesn't show up).…

So I got a job offer for a little less money and little longer commute but it's in an office opposed to gas station vending long hours and hard hot work but good pay. Offer includes benefits/retirement etc.. It's an entry level government job. My boss really opens up and says how much they value me, how maybe they could come up with a better number to keep me, how much they've in tested in me the past 3 years but more than that I'm seriously like family to these guys. We talk on this for about a half hour. I have genuine love and respect for these guys. Even with a longer commute I would have more home time and the pay would go up each year past where I'm at now. I don't have hard feelings and I don't hate the current job. I just feel it would…

For the past few years, I have worked a seasonal job with decent hourly pay, and worked 35-60 hours per week. My old boss called me today and asked if I could come in to train the new person who's doing my job. I asked several revelant questions, and found out they're week's behind schedule already. Should I help them, or just let them suffer?

You can either: raise your family Or Have a job with us I'm so sick of mandatory over time. What a load of shit. I GAVE YOU MY 8 HOURS. Why leverage my position against me in order to squeeze every last drop of precious time I have to spend with my growing family… I ficking hate the system we work in. I hate how we've been so indoctrinated to believe that instead of asking for a liveable wage or raises, we are told to just work more to make up the income… is this crazy land we live in? I'll be really short with this. I joined this company as a fresher expecting to learn something new everyday but all I'm being is micromanaged and tortured everyday. My manager and i have keep having frequent fights and there's another person who's working on the same team who gives me updates on what my manager is upto everyday. (We sit at different locations) Today (Saturday's we're off) she set up a meeting for both of us and bombarded us for changing a format on the Excel sheet. Next thing she asked me to drop from the meeting where she told my colleague she is finding a replacement for me. I have already spoken to the head about there was no solution for any of my problems. The job market is bad and i only have an year of experience from my current organisation so moving jobs doesn't look easy for…
